Posted September 27, 200915 yr How many here believe in shortening up the rotation to finish up the season? I think seeing Ricky and Josh pitch 2 or 3 more times before the seasons over is a good thing, how about you fellas. If they are and were our aces, they should be up to the task. I feel it gives us our best chance at winning.
September 27, 200915 yr Well we have one more day off. I wouldn't push Josh that much though. I wouldn't pitch him twice, on 3 days rest. Just not worth risking injury
September 27, 200915 yr We really don't have the kind of reliable starting pitching that would favor us in putting guys on short rest, that would probably makes things a hell of a lot worse. This season, honestly, the likes of West, Sanchez, and VandenHurk (hell a lot of times even Nolasco) can all be lumped into the same average to slightly below average pitchers this season. JJ has been inconsistant lately due to the toll of the innings catching up to him, so we are and should really just use the guys we got the final week and hope for the best.
September 27, 200915 yr I might consider having a four man rotation if Josh can somehow finish with 5 days rest between his last 2 starts. J.J., Nolasco, West, Anibal to finish the season off doesn't sound to bad and if anything RVH can pitch whenever needed.
September 27, 200915 yr If we were 1 or 2 games out then I may consider using JJ and Nolasco on short rest. We aren't though and the risk, especially to JJ who will surpass 200 innings for the 1st time today is far too high.
