We're 4 games out with 7 to play. We're still in this. The Braves have been absolutely on fire recently, and they close out the season with 3 against the Nats. We have to win out I believe. 90-72 is what we have to get out and just hope everything else falls in place. WIN WIN WIN

GO MARLINS !!!

I'm not worrying much about what the braves have done right now.

Because we play them next.

So we have to beat them regardless if they win tomorrow or not.

I guess it's all about momentum.

GET IT DONE!

You guys are living in a fairytale world. The season ended when we gave up that 3-run homer to Corky Miller last Sunday.

actually, it's 4 against the nats. this next series between the braves and marlins will knock one of us at least out of the playoff picture, huge for both teams. we have jj, hudson and javy going in the series, so it favors the braves on paper, but you guys always play us hard. but of course, we have to hope the rockies slip up against the brewers and dodgers.

Wow, so mature. And obviously we all want them to make the playoffs, but harnessing enthusiasm for < 1% likelihoods isn't dumb, it's rational.

The true fans never give up, even when they are mathematically eliminated.

Yes, that made no sense, but if you were a real fan you would understand that last sentence :D

Anyway, people who are all pessimistic do nothing but make things worse. Crazy things in baseball have happened, no reason to go all depressive mode on us, we have baseball for one more week and then a half a year layoff, enjoy the final week of baseball you will get to see in a while.

Yeah I totally forgot about the Braves series. We're only 1.5 games back from the Braves so if we win out, we'll be ahead of them for sure. The Giants have completely lost it, they're pretty much done. So it just comes down to us playing well and getting help from the Rockies.

So this is what needs to happen, and I'm trying to be as realistic as possible. We also have to remember that the Dodgers, Phillies, and Cardinals are all fighting for homefield advantage throughout the playoffs, so I don't see any team letting up, or atleast not soon.

Sunday: The Marlins have to win tomorrow against the Mets, the Rockies will lose to the Cardinals, and the Braves will beat the Nationals (Lowe pitching, plus ATL is hot)

Monday: Braves beat Marlins (being realistic)

Tuesday: Marlins beat Braves, lets say the Rockies win against the Brewers (trying to be realistic)

Wed: Marlins beat Braves (Nolasco start) , Rockies lose to the Brewers (Suppan will beat Hammel)

Thurs: Marlins off, Brewers beat Rockies, (Parra start, like their chanes), Nationals over Braves

AT THIS POINT THE DODGERS are still fighting with the CARDINALS for home field advantage, the Phillies have clinched the division and have nothing to play for in the last series ... (easy sweep for the Marlins, the Dodgers will take 2 out of 3 from the Rockies at home, and for the hell of it, lets say the Braves and the Nationals split the last 4

Fri: Marlins beat Phillies, Dodgers beat Rockies, Braves over Nationals

Sat: Marlins beat Phillies, Rockies beat Dodgers, Nationals over Braves

Sun: Marlins beat Phillies, Dodgers beat Rockies, Braves beat Nationals

If Philly has nothing to play for in that last series, I really think we can sweep them. And all we need to do is take 2 out of 3 from ATL. Everything else seems pretty realistic

So the Malins go 6-1

Rockies go 2-5

Braves go 4-4

So when it's all said and done

Marlins: 89-73

Rockies: 89-73

Braves: 88-74

Marlins own the tiebreaker against the Rockies (4-2 against them in the regular season)

MARLINS WIN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE WILD CARD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I say we just take it one day at a time...

guys, we are not making ther playoffs. this team has shown absolutly no signs of making a serious run at anything. we have this discussion after every win, just face it, we didnt have enough pitching and we needed a better back end of the bullpen and we didnt get it and we arent making the playoffs because of it. we are done.

I agree. People like that, people who gave up when we had that horrendous May. Its not over until we are eliminated. Yes, its a longshot, but stranger things have happened. And those teams that HAVE pulled out late season miracles? Well they didn't give up on a random Sunday afternoon loss to the Reds.

The true fans never give up, even when they are mathematically eliminated.

If you still think that's less than 1%, then I really don't know what to say to you. Just believe, and good things will happen.

The fact is you're not being realistic or a homer, cuz we still have a shot at this

yes it does. why on earth would the rockies lose 5 out of 7 when they have shown absolutely nothing to show why this would happen especially when they are playing the brewers for 3 of those games. and when was the last time the marlins even won 6 of 7? why do you assume we are going to win 6 of 7 when we havent even been playing well. we arent a playoff team. take of those teal colored glasses

im not being realistic? we are 4 games back to a team who plays 3 games against a bad team and another 3 against the dodgers, while we play the hottest team in baseball and the phillies both on the road? face it, you are being an extreme homer and people on this board do this all the time. after a win its always "We arent out of this" bla bla bla. you are letting this hi of a win overtake your realistic thoughts.

That % isn't his opinion. It's actually based on a system. I don't put much into that, but it's not opinion...more like fact right now. Of course that could change daily. But as of now...if it's not 1%, it's not much more than 1.

look at it this way. we could go 7-0 and all the rockies have to do is go 4-3 and we still dont make the playoffs. why would you ever assume the rockies wont perform well this week? you have absolutely no backup for this statement.

the playoffs ended for us friday night

B/C the Dodgers hopefully will still have something to play for and the Brewers can play spoiler. And the Rockies aren't as hot right now as you think, they lost 2 out of 3 to the Padres and are about to lose 2 out of 3 to the Cardinals. That's not a hot streak .... in fact, I think the Rockies are cooling at the perfect time, and the chances of the rockies losing 5 out of 7 is very likely.

And the Marlins can easily get hot. Didn't the Mets blow like a 9 game lead with 17 games left. Just have faith man. Why are you trying to bring down our optimisim, b/c there are still a lot of Marlins fans who believe. So honestly, if you're going to have a negative attitude, then don't even visit these boards b/c we really don't need you right now.

the dodgers magic number is like 2 or something, so they will clinch by next weekend, and if they dont then the rockies have gotten even better and have played better. when have the brewers played spoiler this year? they have been terrible sincle like may.

the marlins can easily get hot? when was the last time we went on an extended winning streak? please tell me.

i dont care if you dont need me to be negative. im not even being negative, im being realistic.

Who cares if the Dodgers magic number is 2. I'm talking about playing for homefield advantage, not the division, so pay attention.

And dude this is baseball, not football. It's extremely hard to predict baseball, which is why whatever your saying is seen as being negative, not realistic. You don't think the Brewers can play spoiler, you're saying the Dodgers won't be fighting for homefield, and your saying the Marlins won't get hot

So I see it as negative, negative, negative.

E Cat Panther has a point. It's the last week of baseball, and our team is still in it. No point in being a dick and saying we're out of it. Just believe, you never know.

Anyway, people who are all pessimistic do nothing but make things worse.

Right, because my attitude towards the team's playoff hopes totally has an effect on what will actually happen . . .
