November 13, 200322 yr I laugh at you. Just a week ago, I heard no one buys country it's all rap. I'm not a fan of country but I just love this Toby Keith has The #1 album in the country while Rappers, Ja Rule, Wyclef John, and Fabulous all had albums that bombed in comparison to their last album sales. Link: http://www.billboard.com/bb/charts/bb200.jsp :lol :lol Jay-Z and G-Unit's new album's come out this week. Or in other words, Toby Keith is going to fall to at least number 3 on this weeks charts. Oh and BTW, Ja Rule and Fabolous suck, nobody buys their crap, and Wyclef John is no where near as good as he used to be.
November 13, 200322 yr Plus the CMA Awards were pretty highly rated in the Nielsens last week. Me- I like country music. I get laughed at for it alot, but, who cares. I can't listen to some of this stuff nowadays. Man, I sound old.
November 13, 200322 yr I can't listen to some of this stuff nowadays. Man, I sound old. :lol No you don't man, I can't listen to some of this stuff nowadays either. It is just ridiculous when people say how country music is all great and the most popular genre, when rap music is changing the music scene in every genre except country, is taking over pop culture, and is for the most part selling the most cd's.
November 13, 200322 yr Author Jay-Z and G-Unit's new album's come out this week. Or in other words, Toby Keith is going to fall to at least number 3 on this weeks charts. Oh and BTW, Ja Rule and Fabolous suck, nobody buys their crap, and Wyclef John is no where near as good as he used to be. No they won't their album's didn't come out on Tuesday(If I remember) when Soundscan started it's count on Tuesday meaning it's unlikely they can take that spot. Eminem and Nas who's last albums were pushed up due to downloading and did not come out on A Tuesday did not take the top spot next week. Keith has a loyal fan base plus he's in the Country version of The Ja Rule 50 Cent battle with The Dixie Chicks and that's sure to get more album sales for him to see if he fires back after Natalie from The group had her Famous FUTK T - Shirt. Plus from what I'm hearing, The G-Unit Album is going to sell well but not nearly as good as most expect. Jay Z is going to sell well due to all this "Last Album" hype.
November 13, 200322 yr Author and is for the most part selling the most cd's. Dude no it's not. Rap is popular but it's already falling like all Music Genre's who were once at top. The whole easy listening genre is the top seller right now. Dido, John Mayer, Norah Jones. Sarah Mchalclin(Or however you speel her name) have all sold better than Rap's heavy hitters. Rap just dominates MTV but the adult crown buy's most of The CD's.

Well you know what i meant, the first album count with the g-unit and jay-z albums on there will see them outsell toby keith. I know the g-unit album won't sell as well as everybody thinks, but it will outsell toby keith IMO. And for sure with all the hype, Jay-Z is going to take the top spot. I don't like country, but I have no real problem with it either. I just laugh when people say stuff like it influenes more in culture and is more popular than any other genre of music, when right now, it's obvious that rap/hip hop holds that title.

If you want to say country is selling more, that's legit, but not norah jones and john mayer?? lol i find that very hard to believe, although I suppose I could be wrong, as Sarah Mclaughin is #2 on the charts right now (which I doubt will last.) Although you are right, adults buy the most cd's, which is why i think rap may really take over as today's teens's and young adults hit their 20's and 30's and bring their rap fandom along with them as they age.

Norah Jones's last CD: Has sold 8 Million and is currently 32 while Fifty is long gone from the top 20 and Album sold well under Norah's. John Mayers's last album Room for Squares sold 6 million copies I belive and new album is going strong. I don't like the whole easy listening thing but it's selling.
November 14, 200322 yr Rap is influencing all genre's except country? Damn I guess the jazz musicians missed that memo.
November 14, 200322 yr Rap is influencing all genre's except country? Damn I guess the jazz musicians missed that memo. Hmm i was thinking more along the lines of all poular genres, ie rock, pop. punk, etc...but you bring up a good point :lol .

Wow, you learn something new everyday I guess. Easy listening is the most popular out there I supppose, I don't know the facts, but i'm guessing 50's last CD is close to 8 million sold, it was fittingly 50th on the most recent charts, and I believe had sold 5.3 million copies as of july, which by now has to be at least around 7 million as a conservative guess.

November 14, 200322 yr IMO, Country has more depth to it.....and has good messages for the most part.....meaning more people will buy it
November 14, 200322 yr IMO, Country has more depth to it.....and has good messages for the most part.....meaning more people will buy it You may be right about country having more depth and better messages, but a lot of people don't buy stuff for those reason these days. If people bought music for depth and good messages, rap wouldn't be doing very well.
November 14, 200322 yr but as Rune stated...Country is doing better Maybe so, actually it appears that country IS doing better, but Jay-Z and/or G-Unit's new cd's are going to beat Toby Keith.
November 14, 200322 yr Plus the CMA Awards were pretty highly rated in the Nielsens last week. Me- I like country music. I get laughed at for it alot, but, who cares. I can't listen to some of this stuff nowadays. Man, I sound old. You sound like me, geemoney I LOVE country and music of almost all types...I bought Toby Keith's new album yesterday and still have yet to listen to it but since I love his music, I know already that I will enjoy it.
November 14, 200322 yr Rap SUCKS! It is not music and it will never be! You can call it anything else but music... What happened to good music I don't know, everybody is too busy looking either like a gangster or a whore!

What happened to good music I don't know, everybody is too busy looking either like a gangster or a whore! The Beatles was good music... Damn it I sound like the oldest SOB on this board...
November 14, 200322 yr Currently in my 2 disc changer: OutKast & Garth Brooks. So, in other words...can't we all just get along?
November 14, 200322 yr The Beatles was good music... Damn it I sound like the oldest SOB on this board... I'm with you, DT. My listening preferences are oldies, and classics from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Not big on the new stuff, although I like Outkast, and Dr. Dre and Eminem put out some stuff I like. And I'm only 22!
November 14, 200322 yr I'll admit that I'm a huge fan of Rock music, but every now again...I listen to the Dixie Chicks. :anon
