This is really sad, especially with the way the Rockies had been going the last few years, finally getting it together.

That's pretty sad, he was only 48, and his club looks like it maybe a contender for quite a while in that division.

As his players trickled onto the field at Nationals Park, manager Jim Tracy, flanked by and holding hands with the team's radio announcing team, pounded a fungo bat into the black surface on the floor of Colorado's dugout repeatedly, a gesture that crystallized how raw emotions are for the Rockies -- one of baseball's most tightly knit families -- after losing one of their own.

Sad stuff. RIP.
