Entendu
If anyone told us this before the beginning of this season, how many of us would guess we're in the position we are now? The bright spot is that both these guys figure into our long-term plans.

TrustN61
It's nice to see that some players are playing well on the team. I think the future of the organization looks pretty good with CC, Gaby, and Hanley in the lineup. Stanton is probably the next guy to start breaking out. JJ has really bounced back from his injury with a good two years. As far as im concerned, best contract that the front office actually allowed to be signed and i hope he remains at the top of the rotation for many years to come. MrMarlinPride
I bet "Gary" will get tons of proper recognition on ESPN. J.J. is the man and it's well deserved after the way he's been pitching this season.
fanofthefish
Congrats to both, really good to see Gaby getting some recognition, he's quietly putting up solid numbers.

BTW Monday on replays of the game I heard Vin Scully refer to Mike as Standon a couple times. After Tuesday's game bet he knows his name now. Someone needs to tell Vin to get his eyeglass perscription checked. Or do his homework. Getting the names wrong on June's ROM and the #3 top prospect going into the season says something. Admin
I watched the Vin Scully feed for all three games. I don't think he was saying "Standon." He was placing a lot of emphasis on the "T" in Stanton so it sounded funny. And he's 82 and calls three Marlins games a year. I think he deserves a little slack especially since he's the only one in the booth.
BafflingBeerman
Some Josh Johnson facts (with apologies to Chuck Norris): Josh Johnson was once employed as a bomber in the U.S. Military because of his proficiency in hitting the strike zone Josh Johnson insists on finishing a game of Monopoly when he has the most money, just so he can get a complete game win Josh Johnson calls the pitcher's mound his burial mound Josh Johnson often doubles as Billy the Marlin during his starts Josh Johnson is never caught speeding because he likes to emulate his fastball and remain untouchable

Seriously, you have a problem with arguably the best play-by-play man of the last 50 years? And he still does more homework than anyone else. And while I don't know if he called him Gary late in the game, he did call him Gaby to start the game, and then started going into the history of players named Gaby in baseball. He clearly knows his name. Hell, thanks to Scully I know that Gaby's family owned the batting cages in Tamiami Park. And I agree with pinguino, it didn't sound to me like he was saying Standon as much as pronouncing Stanton a bit strangely. Sometimes he clearly said Stanton and sometimes, like after his HR, he said it quicker and it sounded Standon-ish.
