AeroFishOne
Hey guys, I am planning on travelling down to Atlanta from NC for the Braves/Marlins set 9/27-9/29 for my "bachelor" party. Im just wondering if there are any "cant miss" activities while in Atlanta or at the Ballpark. Also how are the fans in terms of being receptive to opposing teams fans. Thanks in advance and if anyone has any information or tips for the trip, let me know. P.s. Mods, if this could be better suited in a different section, please feel free to move it. MiRi
I was just in the ATL to visit family. We went to one of the games in the Tigers series. The fans aren't that bad. A little annoying at times, but just ignore them. I didn't eat at the stadium but they have your usual burgers and chicken fingers. I think they have a Moe's in there, but not sure. Do the zoo and the aquarium and all the touristy stuff if you can. If you want a nice walk go to Piedmont Park. They also have a nice pool to enjoy. It reminds me a little of Central Park. For shopping, go to Atlantic Station. They also have a nice movie theater. I have some places I can recommend to you to go eat at. Taqueria del Sol - http://www.yelp.com/biz/taqueria-del-sol-decatur-decatur * It is Mexican food with a twist. Don't get discouraged by the infamous "table nazi". We had no problems when we went. The food was amazing. Try the shrimp corn chowder. Delish! Fat Matt's Rib Shack - http://www.yelp.com/biz/fat-matts-rib-shack-atlanta * It is very small and gets a bit packed, but the food is worth it! Stone Soup Kitchen - http://www.yelp.com/biz/stone-soup-kitchen-atlanta * I know the owner of the restaurant. His name is Jason and a very cool guy. Tell him Vince Martinez's sister Miriam recommended the place to you. Anyway, have breakfast. The lunch menu is okay, but breakfast is much much better. I believe they serve breakfast all day. Highland Bakery - http://www.yelp.com/biz/highland-bakery-atlanta * I haven't been here in a while, but it is one of my brother's favorite restaurants. Also, go catch a Gwinnett Braves game while you are there. It's pretty fun too. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. AeroFishOne
Is it better to reserve parking or to try and pay when you get there?
MiRi
We just paid when we got there. We did have to walk a lot. Parking was $12.
AeroFishOne
Parking if reserved is 10, but im trying to save some money, Freaking Ticketmaster charges 35.50 for Convenience Charge for 66.00 dollars tickets. Thats outragous. Its been a long time since ive got anything from ticketmaster.
MiRi
Ticketmaster is horrible. If you want to risk it, try getting tickets at the stadium next time. That's what we did.
AeroFishOne
They have buy on get one free on certain tickets so i dont want to miss out on those, but i got some thinking to do.
AeroFishOne
I dont want to start a new thread asking this. When i select two tickets for a certain ticket type (field, outfield pavillion) each time it will only give me one choice of seat. I cant see if there are anymore avaliable seats in that section. Its a Monday game so i dont see why it would be sold out. Is there anyway of seeing if there are more seats in a certain section. I would like to sit near the vistiing dugout but the only choice that shows up is a section near the home dugout. Anybody can help.
Maxx
Unfortunately that's how ticketmaster works. If you wanna choose a section you'd be better off calling ticketmaster or waiting and buying the tickets while you are in atlanta.
jmp
Stadium is pretty nice, food is not bad, I sat by 3rd base and the view as pretty good. I wouldn't hang around downtown Atlanta though, not the nicest place... Midtown is pretty nice though, if you are looking for something to do after the game. Oh and you shouldn't have a problem by just paying for parking at the stadium.
Rabbethan
Parking when you get there is better than parking reserved in my opinion if you're willcalling your tickets. We didn't think that through when we went and I ended up having to drive around while my fiancee picked the tickets up.
AeroFishOne
Ah well I cant seem to get a response from ticketmaster, imagine that, so ill ask it here. My brother might be the third wheel that comes with us on the trip but he doesnt know if he can get out of school. Do the Braves allow you to return tickets to games? Ticketmaster was saying it was based on the concert or organizations preference.
MiRi
I would call the Braves for that question. They might not let you return it, but exchange for another game.
