First Mike Lowell, now Mike Redmond.Another piece of the Marlins’ 2003 World Series club has called it a career. Mike Redmond announced his retirement after 13 seasons and 764 major league games. He spent 2010 with the Cleveland Indians, the third of three teams he played for.

A product of Gonzaga, Redmond joined the Marlins as an amateur free agent in August 1992. Six years later he made his major league debut and spent parts of seven seasons here before signing with the Twins entering the 2005 season.

Perhaps Redmond is best known for being Tom Glavine’s nemesis. In 48 at-bats against the former Atlanta Braves great, Redmond hit .438 with a 1.075 on-base plus slugging percentage. Redmond and Randy Wolf are the only two pitchers that gave up two homers to Redmond.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Redmond working in the minors before long. He would make a nice addition to the Marlins’ player development staff.

.287 career hitter and I always like him too. And he owned Tom Glavine so that was cool too.

I can see Red managing in the big leagues some day.

Hopefully our manager someday, get him on track ASAP so it's sooner rather then later.

Hard to believe its been that long ago that he played for the Marlins! Then just taking a glance at the 2003 roster seeing which players are still hanging in there. Good luck to Red, would love to see him in our farm system.
