Posted October 7, 201014 yr Then how come noone came close to 300 K's? The best anyone could do is the 230's. Are today's pitchers more about finesse than power? Or does it have to do with the 5 inning half life most pitchers seem to have?
October 7, 201014 yr 300 strikeouts has been done 63 times in like 150 years, so it is not like it is the norm. Also, the innings issue is in play like you pointed out. Schilling had 259 IP when he last did it.
October 7, 201014 yr This isn't the year of the pitcher, it's just the best year for pitchers since the Marlins/Rockies expansion. We're finally getting back near pre-steroids numbers. We're still scoring runs way more than in the 80's.

October 7, 201014 yr YES! It's coming along. Soon enough it will be in the modern idiom and it will be one word just like "nobody"!
October 7, 201014 yr The year of the pitcher - tell that to Arizona or Pittsburgh :mischief Yeah, Mark Reynolds struck out so many batters. ... I mean times.  Man, with that 200+ K number and low batting average I forget he's a third baseman sometimes.
