November 21, 200322 yr former marlins tv/radio guy joe angel was fired by the sf giants his replacement is some guy who has no major league experience on tv or radio talk about another b***h slap to angel. first the marlins dump him for one of the worst in the business (dvh) and now san fran dumps him another thought: do the marlins have the best tv duo in mlb? hutton and kasper are so energetic and call a gr8 game
November 21, 200322 yr I'll rather have Joe Angel any day over Casper but what should really happen is WQAM should hire Joe Angel and get rid of Van horn.
November 21, 200322 yr I like our Broadcasters (Kasper and Hutton) they make every play seem exciting.
November 21, 200322 yr we can wave him bye bye! Joe Angel is in the Loss column. I'm so glad they got rid of him. It made one of the best broadcasting teams in baseball even better.
November 21, 200322 yr It made one of the best broadcasting teams in baseball even better. That may not be saying much if San Fran got rid of him. :confused
November 21, 200322 yr It made one of the best broadcasting teams in baseball even better. That may not be saying much if San Fran got rid of him. :confused Jon Miller Duane Kuiper you can't beat those two. Miller is the #2 play by play guy in baseball and Kuiper's another great one with the best home run call. Krukow's one of those announcers who are great local announcers and all the local fans would love him, so that's all that matters Greg Papa was the A's best announcer but they fired him, so instead of being the best of the A's announcers he's the worst of the Giants announcers Dave Flemming announced 10 games for the Giants last year, and split filling in for Jon Miller when he went to do ESPN games, and he was far and away the best of the four. But they should have re-signed Hank Greenwald. He's one of the greats and wanted to come back.
November 21, 200322 yr GiantsIn04 - is there anything the Giants don't do better than everybody else?
November 21, 200322 yr GiantsIn04 - what exactly didn't Giants fans like about Joe Angel? I read a couple of lengthy messageboard rants against Angel during the year. We loved him down here (in south florida) and were saddened when he was fired. Has he gone downhill? How did he come across in SF?
November 21, 200322 yr he started his career in SF in the late 70's. After the Marlins let him go, the Giants picked him up after Ted Robinson, a good announcer but he had an awful high pitched voice, signed with the Mets. I didn't like anything about him. he had the worst home run call ever ("wave it bye-bye"), i hated the "Giants are in the WIN/ LOSS column" thing, and I couldn't stand the way he announces the game. He has a good broadcasting voice (sound very similar to Jon Miller), but he sucks at everything else.
November 21, 200322 yr Giantsin04-take no offense to what I said. If those are the guys that floats your boat, then more power to you. I loved Joe Angel when he was the announcer here for the Marlins and hope maybe somehow that they can bring him back here. But if you didn't like him....well there is nothing I can do to change your mind. :whistle

November 21, 200322 yr Not everybody in South Florida loved him. His routine was cute at first but it got very old. He also thought he was much funnier than he actually was (at least in my opinion). I don't like to see anybody lose their job but I was glad to see him move on from the Marlins and don't miss him one little bit.
November 21, 200322 yr is Kuiper's HR call... he hits it HIGH, he hits it DEEP? what does he say for anyone else besides Barry Lamar Bonds?
November 21, 200322 yr Just like the Marlins team, there can't be enough said about chemistry. Thats why I love listening to Kasper and Hutton. Whether or not they really do, they seem to have a great chemistry and really enjoy what they are doing and put a lot of energy into it. As for Joe Angel, I wasn't unhappy to see him go. He was good with Dave O'Brien on the radio when they got along, but after that, I really didnt care for him.
November 21, 200322 yr i wont miss him calling games for the giants-i'm so happy we got rid of him a long time ago!-especially with kasper and tommy.
November 21, 200322 yr Frankly, if Boog stays, his attitude towards the team drives me nuts. He presents a face that he likes the Marlins, but he is constantly trying to leave. Since the Mets job is basically taken, the A's job may be his next target. I don't have a problem with Van Horne, who is best on the TV, being put with Joe Angel on the radio. I am used to both and how they call games on the radio. Most of you don't even listen to as many radiocasts as I do. Leave Kasper and Hutton on the TV and bring in Angel to team up with Van Horne on the radio.
November 21, 200322 yr I'm sorry but I think they should get rid of Van Horne. Let boog get the full-time job or bring joe angel back. But just get rid of Van Horne, he looks lost and doesnt insert any excitement to the games.
November 21, 200322 yr Van Horne does what a radio broadcaster should, describe the events on the field. His calmness lets me understand what he is saying. My hearing ability is not very good and Boog's screaming and straining his voice makes it harder. Calmness doesn't mean it isn't exciting, just look at Vin Scully, Bob Costas, or any of the Bucks.
November 21, 200322 yr Van Horne does what a radio broadcaster should, describe the events on the field. put you to sleep?
November 21, 200322 yr you all must be A.D.D. cases. He isn't boring, just because he doesn't fill time with fluff like some broadcasters do, or yell at every single play doesn't mean he isn't good.
November 21, 200322 yr ADHD but thats besides the point the guy put me to sleep in arguably the best comeback of the year vs the BoSox
