flsportsfan83
and the Marlins call up a bench player until the Jiohnson spot comes up in the rotation.
Dr Beinfest
We don't have a fifth pitcher. Unless they plan on starting Badenhop, No reason to grab a bench player at this moment. Especially because we don't have any useful ones.
Admin
If they send him down he can't be called up again for ten days unless someone goes on the DL. He will only go down if the Marlins want to start someone else when the rotation spot comes up again.
GoFishGoMs628
Why not get a look at Koehler see what we have?
Erick
I expect a bench player to be called up for the next four days, as well.
nico1270
There is an off day tomorrow, they can try with a 4 man rotation. But it's risky with Volstad and Vázquez.
AeroFishOne
I want to see Koehler and see what he can deliver. I don't know why buete was first on the list of callups, maybe I'm missing something.
LordMagnus
Because he was doing well so far. The bottom line is, we don't really have any quality arm waiting in the wings. As Edwin said, our starting pitching depth is very thin.
legacyofCangelosi
I want to see Koehler and see what he can deliver. I don't know why buete was first on the list of callups, maybe I'm missing something. Or we use Buente again. He didn't pitch well, but take away Dobbs error and it was 2 ER through 4. I don't know if his first four innings as a starter in the majors should be enough to replace him already. I'd give him another start, see how he does, and the next time we need a spot starter we can call up Koehler, if Buente does poorly again.
fanofthefish
Why not get a look at Koehler see what we have? Because the Marlins would have to make a spot on the 40 man roster for him, which they'll have to do when Baker comes off of 60 day DL. I'm not opposed to giving it a try, but short of putting Sanabia or one of the others on the 40 on the 60 day the Marlins would probably lose someone in the roster move
Hammerhead
I want to see Koehler and see what he can deliver. I don't know why buete was first on the list of callups, maybe I'm missing something. He had a sub 2 ERA in AAA and he has good history as a pen guy (2.64 ERA last year in 20 games). He's someone we might be able to keep up once JJ gets back. And I don't know why you guys are freaking out and saying send him down. It was one start against a good hitting team. Plus, Koehler is a prospect who may actually matter someday (he's the best one we have right now, pitching wise) so there's really no reason to start his clock and get him off a regular schedule.
