floridafly
http://www.marlinsbaseball.com/2011/06/why-scott-cousins-should-play-many-more-days-in-the-big-leagues/ Just finished it. Yet again, looking for (contructive) criticism and what not. I just really hope Cousins doesn't get demoted to make room for Brad Hand :lol
Rabbethan
I don't mean this negatively as I haven't read your article yet. I thought we were done with the Posey thing: Johnny Bench put it on Posey, not Cousins. And he's Johnny F***ing Bench.
floridafly
Its nothing to do with Posey. Its just Scott Cousins' value to the team.
Hammerhead
Its nothing to do with Posey. Its just Scott Cousins' value to the team. Not that I'm bashing your writing but Cousins brings very little value to this team (0.1 WAR, almost all of which is defensive). If we had a bench guy that was better, he'd be gone. He's a good fit for the Marlins because he can provide pretty solid bench depth and better defense than any one of our starting OFs. Plus he'll be cost-effective for a while down the road. So when our team gets a little pricey to keep in tact, Cousins can be kept for under 1MM each year. Btw, Dobbs likely jumps ship next year as his contract will get fatter (if he keeps up this kind of production)

He would be average, but his arm is one of the best in the league.

Just based on what I've seen (so take it with a grain of salt) it seems like his routes are mostly fine and he gets decent jumps but completing the difficult play is the problem. I can remember a few where it seems like the ball glanced off his glove. Not easy plays at all, and he is only 21 so I fully expect Stanton to get better with time. And I meant he would be an average defender, but his plus arm makes him an above average defender.
