Marlins start off August with a win, the first of an upcoming 20 game winning streak.

W: Nunez (1-2)

L: Isringhausen (2-1)

3B: O Infante (6)

HR: M Stanton (25)

Giancarlo Cruz METS STUNNER

+ the amazing throw from the outfield to get Reyes out at home saved a run.

unbelievable how much Javy has turned things around. that 10th inning was a thing of beauty.

It seemed as if we were f***ed when Wise was caught in no man's land, until he miraculously gets back to first (only the Mets).

Ken Rosenthal for saying the Marlins are definitely going to be serious spenders in the offseason. that got me so excited.

Nice to see us win after leo's typical bs. Felt good to see stanton crush it.

that was a blast. we have a 21 year old who is projected to hit .260, with 40 hr's and 100 rbi's and he still has a lot he will improve on. rare player.

Javy has looked good and is doing what we needed all year.

Is anyone else surprised how brutally honest they are on the broadcast tonight about our chances for tomorrow with Brad Hand on the mound?

I would assume a lot of that will be retaining our own guys really. I could understand giving stanton, sanchez, and gabynot to mention they seem to want to keep leo for some reason even though he is due a big raise

Is there anyone we can throw out there besides Hand? He has had two decent outings I can think of. Not feeling great after his last outing. Maybe he'll pull a ricky and look great tomorrow after a crappy start.

I would like to know what modifications St. Claire made to help Vazquez regain his pitch velocity. Unsurprisingly, the Marlins beat writers seem to be ignoring this story.

From what I recall, it might have been a confidence issue Javy was having in throwing hard. He's definitely a different pitcher than earlier in the season.

Giancarlo Miguelito Estantong!

When did he say this?

He said that there are some people around the game that expect the Marlins to be spending on some players during free agency.

In terms of when, he said it tonight on the telecast during the 7th inning, I believe.

Loved to see Stanton redeem himself after making that mental lapse of not getting the ball in quickly, which in turn ended up leading to the Duda homer.

Nice quick inning from the Hopper in the 10th, Leo would have been out of it had it not been for the Pagan "double" [which was hit softly, mind you], Mujica with a good 1-2-3 8th and Javy with 7 strong. Good game overall from the pitching, of course with exception of the one fastball to Duda.

Stanton's mental lapse probably had something to do with the fact that he wasn't expecting Pagan to be an idiot with his team down by two runs.

Little did Pagan know that Wise would be the idiot on the winning team tonight!

very nice comeback in the 10th inning but man was i pissed when leo gave up that home run.

to his credit he has been relatively good this year.

but again it seems he has abandoned the slider. dont know why.

How was Pagan being an idiot? He was smart to do what he did. Outfielder taking his time, it's relatively deep to most outfields in other parks, and guess what? It worked. Pagan had enough speed to make it in there, so he took the chance. It wasn't even close until Pagan's hand went past the bag and his leg caught on. It led to the 2-run homer two batters later instead of the possible GIDP with the next batter.

Many thoughts probably the least relevant will be first.

Baseball needs to disallow a pitcher to get a Win if he is the pitcher who blew the save.

Giancarlo is becoming one of those "now is the time to get his jersey" types, just waiting for the Marlins to sign him to a 10 year deal.

Leo Nunez had a hiccup but all is not doom and gloom he has been better this year than in years passed and he doesn't get into as many nerve racking situations. (Still not great for the heart!)

Back to 1 game below .500 and if we win tomorrow it will be so nice!

Because his run meant nothing. Normally, you don't do that. It was too close for comfort, and there was more risk than reward involved. Everything just so happened to work out for the Mets to make that play look good.

It's basically the same play Hanley was called an idiot for in Chicago when he hit a single in the 9th and tried to extend it to a 2B; the only difference is that Hanley's was less stupid because he was actually the tying-run trying to get into scoring position in that particular game.

Yet at the same time, Pagan was busting it immediately and Hanley was sort of jogging to first. Albeit, Pagan slowed up a bit at first before taking off, but still.
