Oh my goodness...

And I know I made other Vaz threads...man deserves many threads. Deal with it.

Have two more games like that and he can definitely do it this season

Have two more games like that and he'll have done it in two more games.

You're his biggest fan!

I do find it funny that people tend to forget that his stellar play when the team is trash does not make up for his sub-MLB pitching when we were fighting for first place (and subsequently fighting for our chances at the post-season all together through June).

Javy could have had 3 perfect games through 15 innings in June and Marlins would still lose somehow....no joke. Team sucked overall that month. Javy has been improving on a monthly basis. And he ain't injury prone like JOSH JOHNSON. Ricky can be better than JJ...if he got his act together.

No he couldn't. Ricky can be very, very good if he got more consistent. But JJ is in a different class when he is healthy. And let's not forget, both are young and still learning to be real pitchers. Both should improve.

JJ is the best pitcher on this team. Ricky Nolasco and Javy Vazquez can try to combine their skills and they still wouldn't be as good as Josh Johnson. Then again, that might have something to do with Nolasco and Vazquez having the same skills/flaws.

Josh Johnson can play half a season and he'll have contributed more to the team than Javy Vazquez.

It's a mix of 'he's just that good' and 'you can't forget about Javy Vazquez's early and mid season woes'.

Let us not forget that it was Chris Volstad saving his own ass at the end of last season with a great end to the year. It means NOTHING unless you can perform consistently.

JJ won't get close to 2,500 career K's for his career. Too injury prone. His career ERA of 2.98 should only go down though...

How many more scheduled starts does Javy have for the season?

I'd imagine 5 to 6.

Go Javy ! This is a positive we can lean on in this year of negativity.

Not only is Vaz on a quest to reach 2,500 career K's...but he is also building on his throne as #1 in active leaders among pitchers in K's.

1. Javy- 2,478

2. Tim Wakefield- 2,129.

3. C.C. - 1,962

Silly pitchers... :train2 Vazuqez is heading to 2,500 train before you all.

2,483 now. 5 K's and 0 walks in loss at SD. 7-11 record this year with 4.67 ERA, 109 K's to 44 BB's. 15 K's to 0 BB's last 2 games. Amazing.

I'd like to bring him back next season. If we have the same rotation next season, but replace Volstad's production with C.J Wilson, I think we can have a good rotation.

Why does everyone keep forgetting what Vazquez said about two weeks ago on 8/03?

But despite his impressive turnaround, it’s likely this season will be the 35-year old right-hander’s last.

“I know what I want to do already. I’ve talked to my family about that and basically this could be my last year, Vazquez said Tuesday, a night after giving up just one earned run against the Mets over seven innings.

“This could be it for me. The hunger is still there. But I think God puts my priorities in order. Baseball is probably third right now.

Vazquez, who has three children ages 8, 6, and 3, signed a one-year, $7 million contract with the Marlins before this season.

Seems pretty clear to me. "I know what I want to do already" doesn't leave much room for doubt. He ain't interested in next year, never mind any invocations of "could."

He's preparing the ground to retire, by letting the cat at least half-way out of the bag. He loves baseball, but baseball now comes in 3rd in his priorities behind his wife and 3 young kids. He already has all the money he'll ever need, so he doesn't need to play another day beyond this year.

Sure, he could change his mind, but he ain't worth offering $10 mill to try to do it. I think he's serious and he's done after this year.

He will be back...If he misses out on getting 2,500 this year or wants to get more than 2,500. If I'm Loria I'll offer him a 1 year 5 mil deal with incentives on K's and IP. 1yr/5 mil, up to 12 mil if 200 IP and 200 K's.

I so wanna see Vaz next year just posting 2009 Atl numbers...imagine that with JJ. OMG. Hell, imagine if JJ and Ani both do 2009 Javy numbers next year. Good Lord. They both have the talent to do so, ESP JJ.

except he's not gonna post 2009 ATL numbers. It took him half the season to not be just devastatingly terrible, and then even during his 2nd half resurgence he hasn't been 2009 good.

If you're Vazquez, and you've made your mind up about where baseball ranks in your grand scheme of priorities and it's 3rd on your list, it doesn't matter if someone offers you 20 million for 200 IP and 200 Ks.

You already have more than enough money, and money obviously isn't a factor in this case. It wasn't a factor this year, he only came back this year because we were close to his home, he turned down much bigger offers from other teams. Anyone else was off his radar. Now, everyone is off his radar.

The guy was trying to let anyone who thinks he should be re-signed for next year down easy.

Why won't anyone take him at his word? What is that about? I want him in the rotation, so he'll sign just because I want him to do so?

He's got other, apparently firm ideas. Not at all likely to happen, incentives or otherwise.

No one believes him cause he said the word "retire" with New York last year. And Vazquez isn't stupid, he'll comeback for the right price or if he wants 3000 K's. Does Vazquez want to retire knowing he could have been a sure HOF pitcher with 3,000 K's? 3,000 K's = HOF....sooner or later. So I take back sure thing. But maybe I'm wrong and Vaz is happy knowing 2,500 is locked for this season.

Now excuse me^ while I act like a toy and laugh at the active pitchers below him on the K list.

Lol at C.C, Halladay, Wakefield, double lol at Burnett. Etc.

It would take him 3 more years to get to 3,000 strikeouts.

And his career ERA is over 4.25. He has more losses than wins in his career. There is absolutely no chance he makes the Hall of Fame. You are now officially borderline delusional, minus the borderline.

If I had tons of money, insane amounts, I'll order a painting of Vazquez with words, "I'm not HOF, but I'm 2,500 strikeouts, deal with it."

2,494...against Reds struck out 11, walked 2. JJ nasty.
