Anibal Sanchez decides against trip

Associated Press

MIAMI -- Florida Marlins right-hander Anibal Sanchez says he canceled a trip to his native Venezuela following the kidnapping of Washington Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos.

Sanchez was married last week in Puerto Rico and had planned to visit Venezuela with his wife in early December. But he decided against the trip after Ramos was abducted at his home on the outskirts of Valencia, Venezuela on Wednesday.

Sanchez, who is from Maracay, hasn't been to Venezuela since the season ended, and said he's now scared to go.

Man up, babygirl!

Wait, Sanchez got married last week? I thought he had been married for a while now ...

Yeah... wasn't he the player that had the tragic story about his infant dying?

Yes, I believe you are right. Didn't that happen just before he came back from the injury??

On the kidnapping issue, I would think it would be smart to never go back. Why risk kidnapping of yourself or family member? He's making "some" money. Probably a lot more than most of us on this forum.

Just because a baby doesn't mean he was married, sillies!

Ahhhh, my father's quote was (in a marriage) the first baby can come at anytime. It's the second one that takes 9 months!!!

Having money in south america can be dangerous.

Not really, but Venezuela has just become a bad place to live.

Kidnapping is not unique to Venezuela. It's very common in plenty of the South American countries. They never have intentions to kill though, just ransom.

Yes I know, but Venezuela is in a league of its own, it has become deadlier than Iraq...no other South American country is that bad. In all of Latin America only northern Central America compares.

Nowadays, unfortunately most people it seems have children before they get married. You know you can do that.... :rock
