Mark Buehrle, Marlins agree to 4 year/$58 million contract

Recommended Posts

It would be great if Chris Coghlan ever decided to come out of retirement and play like he did in '09. Maybe then we could put him in LF, move LoMo to first, and send Gaby off in a package for a nice peice in the rotation. YES, I KNOW the A's don't want him...

off-topic, and I'm going to have to look this up, but when's the last time a ROY dropped off the face of the earth like Coghlan has? I mean do we even figure he'll be on the big squad to start the season? It's just really odd. Hopefully he finds his way back into the mix here and putting some injuries aside will get him back on track.

Probably Joe Charboneau, 1980 ROY with Cleveland. Sent to the minors the next year...released in 1983...

Didn't that SS from the Royals win it a few years ago and then become teh suck?

"Mark Buehrle's backloaded deal with the Marlins will act as a no-trade clause of sorts, according to Rosenthal (Twitter links). The left-hander will earn $6MM in 2012, $11MM in 2013, $18MM in 2014 and $19MM in 2015. The deal also includes a $4MM signing bonus that's deferred without interest"

By 2015, the Marlins are going to have a payroll of over $200 O_O. Im scared they start trading away players after one or two seasons.

Ramirez, Bell, Buehrle, Reyes = $64 Million

They just need to be certain that they are averaging around 35k/night in 2013.
