And if you have a reason, list why.

I heard this song when I was first getting into Queen as a child. I loved it immediately when I first heard it for the energy and power Freddie Mercury delivered in the lyrics. As I got older and learned the meaning behind the song, I nearly teared up. Taken from wikipedia:

The song chronicles the effort of Freddie Mercury continuing to perform despite approaching the end of his life.[1]Mercury was so ill and could barely walk when the band recorded the song in 1990, that May (Brian May, Queen guitarist) had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it.[2] Recalling Mercury's performance, May states; "he went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal".[2]

I've always been a huge Mercury fan, but this made him a god in my mind.

Fun topic. Mine:

U2 - Bad

I first heard this song about... two years ago. I never really listened to it or gave it much credibility. I was already the U2maniac that I am today at the time though. Anyways, one day under deep depression I turned the song on and listened to it. Again. And again. And again. Perhaps 30 times. I listened intently. Lyrically, the song moved me. Musically, I found it perfect. Short and sweet, I turned my life around that day.

It is the same song that inspired me to learn music. It is the same song that inspired me to pick up a guitar.

So yeah, it's #1.

I blame Mike for this topic failing so far.

For plays on my iPod, I'd have to nominate Mr Brightside

Im trying to think of my favorite song. I have so many, its hard to choose just one.

Favorite album is a lot easier than favorite song. Favorite song is near impossible.

Favorite album becomes increasingly harder for me than favorite song.

However, I'll answer with this:

Rosalita by Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band

There has never been a purer distillation of being in love and young and stupid and desperate. It's quite possibly the most fun recording in musical history.

Doesn't hurt that it's played by an insanely tight band at the heights of their musical prowess.

Plays on my Ipod says Modest Mouse- Satin in a Coffin; The song comes in first and fourteen since I have it on my Ipod twice. :)
