Cool stuff...

Representatives from the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau visited Orlando to promote Miami as a future location for theNational Basketball Association 's All-Star Game.

The NBA has expressed interest in holding a future All-Star Weekend in Miami, which previously hosted in 1990, according to the GMCVB.

For the 2012 All-Star Weekend, the league expected 50,000 visitors filling about 30,000 hotel rooms and a local economic impact of $100 million.

When Miami is invited to bid for a future All-Star Weekend, the Miami Heat would be the official host for the game, which would be played at the American Airlines Arena , and the Miami Marlins would host the NBA Jam Session at Marlins Park.

The 2012 All-Star game bounced into action on Feb. 26 at the Amway Arena, home to the Orlando Magic, with LeBron James,Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh representing the Miami Heat on the East All-Star team. The West won, 152-149.

At some time or another I would expect many events will be coming to that park........

Political conventions & rallys, NCAA Basketball tournament (either a Final 4 or Sweet 16), College in-season baseball tournament hosted by UM or FIU, music events, even a college football bowl game is possible.

A political convention might be the most difficult since those are at the end of August and in mid-September, and a Final 4 would be right at the beginning of the baseball season, but the others are all in MLB's off season, and would help generate a lot of extra cash for whoever gets that (the Marlins ? or the County & City ? or do they split that ?)
