December 1, 200322 yr According to the NY Daily News, Castillo is gonna make his decision today. I read this on the ESPN.com board. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball...1p-125474c.html
December 1, 200322 yr Thats good that he's making up his mind that way the Marlins know how much cash they have left to go after Pudge. The Marlins are signing in priorities which had been 1. Lowell 2. Castillo and when castillo has decided they can go full-force after Pudge. I hope Pudge doesnt get greedy and holds out hope that somone is going to give him 10 mil a season which isnt happening. He will be signing for about 7 million whether its with the Marlins or not i just hope he comes to his senses and comes back to us.
December 1, 200322 yr Either way, the Marlins are in the driver seat - as far as their future is concerned. A)We re-sign Castillo, if there is enough money, go after Pudge. B)We dont re-sign Castillo, plenty of money to go after Pudge. C)If we cant re-sign either, plenty of money and FA's to fill the gaps - Vlad anyone? Seems this week is pivotal...we'll see.

I read this on the ESPN.com board. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball...1p-125474c.html This is good news. We need closure on this issue as soon as possible so our FO can focus on the next step, whatever it that may be.
December 1, 200322 yr I expect Castillo to return to the Marlins. I think that's where he really wants to be.
December 1, 200322 yr Hopefully we can keep Castillo, But Loria should of never traded Lee, he should of waited just in case Castillo says " NO ".
December 1, 200322 yr Hopefully we can keep Castillo, But Loria should of never traded Lee, he should of waited just in case Castillo says " NO ". Why? We needed to dump that $7.50 mil (Lee) regardless of what happened with Castillo.
December 2, 200322 yr Apparently, according to ESPN, the Cubs are out of it, and Castillo is trying to decide between the Mets and the Marlins.
December 2, 200322 yr GO WITH THE METS!!! Come on Castillo make the right choice, If we dont sign Castillo we got enough money to re-sign Pudge and get a 2B..
December 2, 200322 yr SO since castillo is making his decision, Supposedly tonight "will WE (the fans) no about it tonight?
December 2, 200322 yr I read an article from Herald.com that said Lowell had just the standard physical to pass before his formal contract extension announcement this week. It also said the Marlins were pressuring Castillo to make a move quickly.
December 2, 200322 yr It also said the Marlins were pressuring Castillo to make a move quickly. quickly, meaning tonight... was what i thought
December 2, 200322 yr The Mets and the Marlins . . . and it is a decision???? The Mets are the wasteland of baseball! Open your eyes Luis!!!
December 2, 200322 yr The Mets and the Marlins . . . and it is a decision???? The Mets are the wasteland of baseball! Open your eyes Luis!!! I don't know what Castillo is trying to do here, but the highest offer is the Marlins offer and he is stalling. I wonder why? :mischief2
December 2, 200322 yr The two offers are similar. Ours is more by default because of less taxes. And we have a championship team. Me thinks there is something going down on the backside that we don't know about.

December 2, 200322 yr I'm not entirely sure, but I have a good amount of experience on the inside and especially as a not so passive observer on the outside of these kind of things. A red flag was raised for me back in the Series celebrations, but I disregarded it because everyone is human. Something is definately up, and if Luis dawns that ugly color combination I despise, we might get it leaked sooner or later. If it is on Luiy's side the FO will leak it eventually if things don't go smoothly with Pudge (or our buds on the inside might drop us a hint or two). If it is the FO involved, than Luiy's entourage and/or the papers will drop us a hint or four.
