July 22, 201311 yr Oh well. I was happy for his original getting-off cause I liked him, but ... meh. As a friend of mine (Brewers fan) said, "fuck him."

July 22, 201311 yr Author I'm disappointed with the length of the penalty. He's only missing the rest of the season when the Brewers are way out of the race. Too bad he didn't get 100 games so it would cut into the beginning of next season.

July 22, 201311 yr LOLmo. I don't really have anything to say about Braun, except that it sucks to have another negative association with UM.
July 22, 201311 yr Any evidence that this was some sort of plea deal?  Yes, it definitely was. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9500252/ryan-braun-milwaukee-brewers-suspended-remainder-2013-season It is because of that deal that Braun's suspension was announced Monday, the source told Quinn. The plan remains for the rest of the suspensions stemming from the investigation to be announced all at once. After MLB's original meeting with Braun on June 29, at which he refused to answer questions about Biogenesis, he requested a second meeting, a source familiar with the discussions told T.J. Quinn of ESPN's "Outside The Lines." Braun, after realizing the significance of the evidence against him from questions in the first meeting, decided to meet again to strike a deal that would limit his suspension to this season, according to the source.
July 23, 201311 yr Man, they must have some heavy evidence against these guys. Now that Braun is done, all eyes on A-Rod.

Asking for 100 is stupid.  It's not simply a matter of failing a test in this case. He's involved with a PED clinic and apparently has a paper trail there. 100 games potentially makes a lot of sense, especially if he's not cooperating with the investigation.

He has a paper trail going to Biogenesis, which suggests he acquired illegal PED there. MLB considers that to be a non-analytical positive which is outside of the standard punishment protocol for simply failing a test. MLB can institute whatever punishment it deems to be adequate. Considering Braun is linked to a PED clinic (arguably more damning than simply failing a test) and refused to answer any questions about his involvement, 100 games seems fitting.
July 23, 201311 yr Gotta say I don't care. I think sports in general should allow HGH and other PEDs. Not saying they should let players do as much as they want. It should be monitored. I wanna see guy firing 100 mph fastball and smacking 500 foot bombs.
July 23, 201311 yr There are guys that can do that with natural ability and strength training. I'd rather watch those guys.

I wanna see guy firing 100 mph fastball and smacking 500 foot bombs.  So let them use PEDs but monitor the amount. And how do you propose to do that? It would be impossibly complicated....
