September 29, 201311 yr So wait, is it still going to be the same bullshit where the President is basically the GM and the GM is basically nothing?
September 29, 201311 yr So wait, is it still going to be the same bulls*** where the President is basically the GM and the GM is basically nothing?  I am certain that's absolutely the case.
September 29, 201311 yr this press conference sounds like a soviet union speech "return to glory" "loria should be involved" "absence of truth" lol
September 29, 201311 yr This is perhaps the single-most accurate visual description of what we're feeling right now...
September 29, 201311 yr So wait, is it still going to be the same bulls*** where the President is basically the GM and the GM is basically nothing?  I am certain that's absolutely the case.  I think that might be better... I hope Hill's Harvard education at least makes him marginally open to using advanced metrics in his valuation of players.
September 29, 201311 yr WINNING!!!! Oh wait the more things change the more things stay the same or next years slogan "Insanity-doing the same things again and again and expecting a different result" Or "Reshuffling chairs on the Titantic" Notice the Rays started winning after getting rid of Hill and Jennings
September 29, 201311 yr WINNING!!!! Oh wait the more things change the more things stay the same or next years slogan "Insanity-doing the same things again and again and expecting a different result" Or "Reshuffling chairs on the Titantic" Notice the Rays started winning after getting rid of Hill and Jennings  Did it have anything to do with trades and/or drafts that they helped structure? It's going to be interesting to see what happens this off-season, because these guys are obviously going to want to establish themselves and make their mark on this franchise. And I guarantee Loria will probably give them some money to make that happen. As great as I believe Beinfest was, this may be a good thing, as I actually think Hill will do a fine job.
September 29, 201311 yr Michael Hill is a great man who makes great decisions. After vanquishing that evil, terrible Team President in Admin Beinfest who put his own goals above the goals of the glorious Miami Marlins baseball organization, it is important to realize that Jeffrey Loria is a great man. He is a great owner who has only one goal in mind, that being to bring more glory to Miami and the Marlins organization.  Daniel Jennings is also just perfect in his new role. He will do all that is necessary to bring great players to this team and making sure that we do nothing but achieve success. Believe in Jeffrey Loria. He cares nothing about winning and everything else is secondary. Everything this organization does is for the goal of achieving great success.

September 29, 201311 yr Author It seems strange that Hill would stay after Beinfest is gone. It was starting to sound live their was a divide in the front office between Beinfest/Hill and Jennings/Loria in terms of philosophy. If Loria thought that Jennings was "his guy," then it would make sense for him to be running the show. The firing must have been more about Beinfest's unhappiness and Loria's feelings toward him on a more personal level.
September 29, 201311 yr Nice to see Hill get Beinfest's job and not Jennings... this means Hill, not Jennings, will be running the show (until Loria overides him).  Why is that nice?

September 29, 201311 yr Author Nice to see Hill get Beinfest's job and not Jennings... this means Hill, not Jennings, will be running the show (until Loria overides him).  Why is that nice?  Because I like Hill.    Why? Is he a big Chris Coghlan fan or something?

Is he a big Chris Coghlan Adeiny Hechavarria fan or something?    All joking aside, I think I like the fact that with Hill we don't really know what we're getting. Was he a Beinfest follower, or will he lead the team in a different direction? Jennings looked like a Loria yes man, Beinfest seemed to form his own opinions and execute his vision as best he could... now we kind of get to find out what Hill is all about. Better than the yes-man Jennings IMO.

September 29, 201311 yr So you like Hill because you know nothing about him? Sounds logical.   Him being President now puts everyone in the right slots in the FO order.
September 29, 201311 yr So you like Hill because you know nothing about him? Sounds logical.   Well, I like Hill from what I know. As someone already mentioned, a Harvard grad who may be willing to use advanced metrics and statistics to make decisions. But none of us really have any idea of his philosophy. I like the idea of uncertainty better than the certain direction Jennings would have taken the franchise.
September 29, 201311 yr Good enough response for me. I get what he meant though, Jennings was almost for sure gonna just be an extension of Lorias ridiculous methods. With Hill we might, "might" get something better than that. Maybe not but its definitely a slightly more positive outlook than the sock puppet Jennings.
