Ozzie was listed 3rd overall in the worse managers in MLB history since 1961 with his beautiful performance with the Marlins in 2012, looking at the names listed that is quite of an achievement, and well deserved I may add. If it were up to me I would add Freddi there somewhere as well, no list is perfect I guess

How and why would you have Fredi on that list? True the Marlins took a step back in 2007, but other than that his record after that was above .500 and the Marlins were in contention. Also his stint in Atlanta despite the collapse in 2011 has been stellar.

Yea, I never quite understood the hate for Fredi... But Ozzie sucked.

That has little to do with the manager.

Looking at the list it ranks managers for their failures, obviously Fredi is no where near being on that list, so the above .500 record as a manager has little to do with the manager? I'm not saying he's the greatest manager but for job he did managing the crapbag assembled for him after the Cabrera trade and to post winning records with great players like Mark Hendrickson, Hayden Penn, Bonifacio at third and worlds worst hitting coach he deserves a little admiration, not much but a little.

JK , I mean I never really cared for Fredi but hey whatever!

A good manager can make a difference. Case in point Joe Maddon.

"Winning records have nothing to do with the manager or coaching staff. Losing records have everything to do with them."

Explain please, those teams were crappy but in contention, to post a winning record with Bonifacio as your third baseman speaks volumes so you think those teams should have been better?

Bonifacio as a starting player, a year before he was ready, was a primary reason that team did not win 90+ and go to the post season.

It might make a little difference but not the extent that it's readily measurable. The Rays owe their success to their FO.

I don't understand what you are saying. It makes no sense.

You can have a decent team with Bonifacio as a 3B if you make up for it in other areas.

Explain how Fredi did or didn't make a difference, obviously the Marlins didn't have the players to compete but yet somehow they did, so are you saying the Marlins success during his time was due to the FO and not Fredi?

The players win or lose the games. The burden of proof is on you to say why Fredi Gonzalez was able to have a significant influence on the season's record just by managing.

The FO should get most of the credit for fielding the players who won the games.

good nite Fredi see ya next season! I guess 96 W's doesn't do a whole lot if you can't save some for the playoffs
