Javi Zayas
He is the right guy to manage the Marlins. He makes mistakes but that is a learning process for him.

JackRubysDog
Much as I like Red, the improvements to the Marlins this year are not down to him one iota. They are down to a healthy and improved Stanton, McGehee's red-hot streak pre-ASB, the tremendous improvements (by varying degrees) in Yelich, Ozuna, Alvarez, Eovaldi and Koehler (and to a lesser extent, Ramos, Hatcher and Dyson), the trade for Morris and the fact that Hech is no longer the worse player in baseball. I think we'd be a game over 500 even if Bo Porter was our manager.

SongInTheAir
Legitimate candidate, yes absolutely. For someone who doesn't watch the team everyday, Mike Redmond has taken a 100 loss team and put them in the thick of a playoff race near the end of August. The way he handles pitchers doesn't matter. The way he routinely takes the bat out of his own best hitter's hands doesn't matter. The way he sets a lineup doesn't matter. The bullpen decisions he makes don't matter. All that matters, in this case, is the team's record. With the dramatic improvement, many will credit the manager despite the fact that we may have three or four more wins if there were someone else on that bench. If Mike Redmond doesn't watch the team every day he should be fired, not a MotY candidate.
pollythewog
I actually like him especially post 7.13-gate but he does make some pretty baffling decisions. Either way, if this team is close or over .500 he will absolutely win MOTY and probably rightfully so.
Erick
If the season ended today, it'd be between Redmond and Ron Roenicke.
Guest Vince0926
He is legitimately a candidate because of down expectations. I think the only nl manager to shatter expectations is Milwaukee's. That jerk.

Wild Card
He's absolutely a candidate. Manager of the Year is a reflection of the team, so naturally he'll be involved ala Girardi in 2006.
Admin
At this point, I would be surprised if he didn't win it
Michael
At this point, I would be surprised if he didn't win it *end of season* "Marlins end year with 37 game losing streak. Redmond named Manager of the Year for drastic turnaround through first 125 games."
Michael
Can't blame red for a team wide slump. Its not like he's actually playing. I said he won Manager of the Year. Damn.
poptart
he's probably going to win it, but that's only because the people that vote on this shit don't watch baseball
fanofthefish
I think it will be close if they finish above .500, Roenicke should get strong consideration too, I didn't think the Brewers would be anywhere near as good as they've been. Red is a legit candidate though!
Piazza31
If he wins it, do you want to see him Girardi'd?

Dr Beinfest
Only if we make the playoffs. People will forget about him if we don't.
Undakai
Wouldn't want him Girardi'ed. Had a lot of issues with some early season calls, but have seen improvement in him, which is something I really like, given a lot of managers I've seen don't even try. Also, from everything I've heard, he's a good clubhouse presence, which I think this team needs. Do I think he deserves moty? Prolly not, but I would like to keep him on for a while, as he's been much better than some of the recent managers we've had.
