canada-marlin24
Finally a starter who works out of a big situation. Nice hitting. Isnt it amazing what the offense does when Jones and Saltalamacchia get some hits? The two main bats we added and both have been underwhelming with strikeouts and horrible with RISP, Jones more so. And of course, probably because we deserve it due to all of the missed opportunities, with a Pirates win over Chicago we would only gain a half-game. SilverBullet
Win. The next series is enormous. Our fate is in our own hands this week. On Friday we should be very clear where our season lies.
Mr. Man
That have to go in to the next series ready for war, simple as that.
pollythewog
are we still really doing this watch other teams because the marlins might make the WC thing?
Michael
are we still really doing this watch other teams because the marlins might make the WC thing? Yes. I don't see why not.
canada-marlin24
Really pissed we did gain a full game. Now those missed opportunities coming back to haunt us.
SilverBullet
are we still really doing this watch other teams because the marlins might make the WC thing? For the upcoming series I believe it's a fair thing to do. Ask this question again on Friday morning.
gizmo
I'll be happy finishing at .500 It's a more realistic goal at this point of the season.

SilverBullet
It's as if some of you want the team to not make a playoff push. I'll admit finishing at .500 is a realistic goal that, all things considered, I'd be fairly happy with. But considering the next series, I see nothing wrong with crossing ur fingers and hoping for the best. We could be in a nice position come Friday. Enjoy the week. gizmo
21 games left to make up 4.5 games behind around 3 teams. Only team ahead of us that we play left is the Brewers and then the NL East (sans Atlanta). A lot is going to have to go right for us to pass Atlanta and Pittsburgh. We have Brad Penny in our rotation and no Alvarez right now.

We have Brad Penny in our rotation and no Alvarez right now. Yeah, by giving Penny more starts, Redmond and the front office are basically saying they don't think we have a chance. Heaney has thrown a decent number of innings so they might want to let him rest while letting Penny eat the innings. That's fine in September, but not for a team that's trying to compete for a playoff spot.
DTrain
Great win. Any win against the Braves is great (especially when the Braves are in the playoff hunt which seems like always). But the season is still over for the Marlins. They guaranteed that by losing 2 of 3 to the Mets at home and by giving Brad Penny starts. yokofox33
We could technically sweep the Brewers and gain no games in the standings, so don't get too worked up over this series.
Admin
We could technically sweep the Brewers and gain no games in the standings, so don't get too worked up over this series. Well we'd leapfrog a team though (loss column wise) which is also important.
Michael
Well we'd leapfrog a team though (loss column wise) which is also important. That leapfrog would end up being a bit of a humping session cause we'd be tied with them.
