SongInTheAir
Imaginary internet points to anyone who gets this reference. But really, it would be awesome for the first time in a really long time to see the Marlins sell high on someone instead of the usual buy high/sell low. Entendu
No. Keep him on the bench
Jokersgoon
Im a bit hesitant due to morse injury history. But ill trade him, especially to san fran. They'll overpay for him. DO IT
MarlinsLou
trade him, haren, phelps, hand, and dyson to SD for Ian Kennedy and Will Venable. Cost neutral both ways, SD gets out of impending FA and some arms to keep, Marlins are supercharged in 2015 and didn't really give up much longterm. Better than what Reds got for Latos too. dim
Trade him before he's worth zilch This. His value decreases exponentially with him on the bench. Gotta trade him while teams are still wanting him.
Hotcorner
sure. Imaginary internet points to anyone who gets this reference. In a Roundabout way this has become a better Marlins team.
Jay Ram
Yea, probably a good idea to move him now.
SilverBullet
They probably should trade him but I doubt it happens. Prado will probably be a "utility starter" if you will. Like he'll be our third baseman until someone needs a day off at another position and that's when Prado takes that position and McGehee then plays third. Therefore McGehee is still on the team, Prado plays more often, and McGehee stays as insurance for Morse at first.
fish14
Teams aren't dumb he isn't getting us back anything significant unless you shop him along with another player. Id keep him and have a nice looking bench. He would be good insurance for 3b, 1b and even 2b. Mcgehee Baker Mathis Backup OF signing spring training invitee who earns a roster spot Thats a nice looking bench there.
Jay Ram
One thing I'd like to see is moving McGehee for a prospect or two. The farm is incredibly stripped after all this trading and it wasn't a great minor league system in the first place. Also, it's not a stretch to think Dietrich can produce similar to McGehee as a backup bat.

fish14
just looked up their minor league stats and Strickland looks like an average relief arm who has a great K/bb ratio throughout his career but Duffy looks like a really nice SS prospect. Id be excited if we could get him for Mcgehee.
SongInTheAir
Duffy good, Strickland meh.
SilverBullet
Is this what you all had in mind two months ago when you predicted Sandoval and McGehee switching places ?
Jay Ram
someone give us the deets on strickland and/or duffy Duffy > Solano. Need you know more? Seriously though, having not see him play, his minor league line shows the ability to walk and a little speed. MLB ready backup now.
sdg210
Considering SF is on the west coast, could Haren be part of a trade McGehee? Might sweeten the deal to sell high.
knglover
I know I said it in the other thread but what about mcgehee and Koehler or hand for lincecum and 9 million? The giants have to be desperate for a 3rd baseman at this point and we have the last one that might be available. I guess any rational decision still can't be made until harden shits or gets off the pot.
Jay Ram
More on Duffy. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2014/8/3/5962993/giants-prospect-matt-duffy-from-18th-round-to-mlb-in-two-years I'd take him, gladly, for Casey.

MiamiNative0722
Minor league pitching and giants take on his salary. Then Loria gets scherzer and shields. Post all-star break lineup. Scherzer, Fernandez, shields, alverez, latos. Damn nigga. I'll buy season tix for that. The sad part is that team would be perhaps the best team in baseball and it would still be in the lower 3rd of mlb payrolls
