marlinsmaniac
Hold the fuck up....maybe I'm misreading...you're telling me they left Wittgren exposed? Or is this list just about who would require protection?
dim
Nah it's just guys who are potentially Rule V now. The Marlins have the opportunity to protect players, which I assume Garcia, Wittgren, Brice, Pineyro, and Araujo are guys they will look to protect. Entendu
if they don't protect Wittgren....
dim
So they did protect Garcia/Wittgren/Brice, which was to be expected. Not sure why they didn't find a way to protect Pineyro. 24 years old and had a 2.70 ERA in New Orleans. Felt like a solid get in the Haren trade and now we're just gonna let any team take him in the Rule V Draft.
dim
Basically it came down to the Marlins valued Esch over Pineyro. I find Pineyro to be a better pitcher and a year and a half younger (plus closer to the majors). If I'm a major league team I'm looking to take Pineyro at the top of the draft.
