Posted August 24, 20168 yr Some of you know, I'm a middle school teacher in Los Angeles. Our school is severely underfunded and the community we serve is among the most impoverished in the state. 97.9% of the students at the school qualify for free lunch, meaning they are under the government's official poverty line. I have set up a Donor's Choose project for some of the supplies we need for this year. We are starting a new curriculum and there are somewhat significant material costs involved. The books have been paid for thanks to a generous donation made previously, but some of the other needed supplies are still unavailable.
