He's 24 years old in his first MLB start this season, with his stuff seeming to have a lot less emphasis on it than with each passing inning. He was done and if he was left in there's a damn good chance everybody would be bitching about Mattingly leaving him in too long.

We have bullpen guys for a reason. That was the absolute right situation to use your bullpen. Anybody saying otherwise is absolutely wrong in this case.

Disagree. He was throwing free and easy, didn't look like there was any strain at all. He  probably could have gotten two more outs.

Bullpen does need to do their job but when your first option is Bryan Morris and your starter hasn't labored at all and was cruising. I wouldn't say thats very stupid.

Morris over Barraclaugh is definitely worth debating. But he's worked the last three games straight. Putting him in risks arm trouble down the line. This one game isn't worth an injury for months at a time. Sometimes it comes down to guys just doing their job, and Morris is their for a reason. The whole situation is on him, Ege, and Phelps.

His 4 seamer was at 87 mph.  He was gassed

That would be Narvesolano's best pitch of the season though, and he was on the Opening Day roster. #Mattingly'd

Don't be stupid. "Only 99" pitches is a terribly dumb statement. First MLB start this year, he's lucky he even got that first batter in the 7th inning. That wasn't the problem. Bullpen guys need to do their job.

I totally disagree.  He hadn't had a stressful inning.  He had only given up two hits at the time.   He got the first out and was only at 99 pitches.  He could have easily finished that inning and then Phelps for the save.  It was his first MLB start this year but he was already stretched out in the minors.  Mattingly is an ass for taking him out. Thank God URENA brought his A game tonight.

Needs to eat it and try to get two more or until he allows a runner.

He's 24 in his first MLB game of the season. No reason for that

Then that hit becomes a double or a home run, and we're all bitching about leaving a guy clearly gassed in and putting a guy in scoring position or giving up an unnecessary run.

Like pollyvonwog said, dip in velocity and some uneasiness in control. He always looks free and easy because that is his natural delivery. Doesn't mean he was ready to go two more batters.
