Admin
How do you figure? I am just guessing still think its gonna be Chen. Maybe
CyggyMarlin
It's actually most likely Locke since they invested $3 million on him. And, not that I think it matters, but Locke is left-handed. But if he is using a Yanket how can you tell he is left-handed???
pollythewog
Straily probably will start opening day I believe you mother. You are always correct and wise about these matters. Thank you
pollythewog
that's a hell of a fly ball rate
pollythewog
i like straily. I'm okay with this trade.
Bret Hart
Anyone know anything about Isaiah (White)? 3rd round draftee in 2015. Graduated a high school. "Not" white.
Hotcorner
this is Straily's what, 5th team now in 4 years? Other teams don't seem to want him. The Reds picked him up off waivers for christ sakes when the Padres DFA'd him. I mean yes he is an improvement over Locke, okay. But did we just deal two of our best pitching prospects (of an already bare prospect list) to get marginally better in the #5 rotation spot? FishMan1997
It's actually most likely Locke since they invested $3 million on him. And, not that I think it matters, but Locke is left-handed. They will go with 13 pitchers and keep both. 25 MAN ROSTER 1. Conley 2. Straily 3. Chen 4. Volquez 5. Koehler 6. Urena 7. Locke 8. Tazawa 9. Phelps 10. McGowan 11. Ziegler 12. Barraclough 13. Ramos 14. Realmuto 15. AJ Ellis 16. Bour 17. Gordon 18. Dietrich 19. Hechavarria 20. Rojas 21. Prado 22. Yelich 23. Stanton 24. Ozuna 25. Ichiro It's looking like Realmuto will be the playing 1st a lot vs. lefties. Also gives Dietrich/Rojas more ABs in OF/around the diamond. Jokersgoon
also like that we control Straily for four years.
pollythewog
@pollyvonwog is this a typical marlins pitcher or what? not really, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut. he seems really well made for marlins park (very extreme fb) which looks like thought and effort was put into going after him. I think he's got room to go w/ the k rate based on his swgstrk %s.

It will play itself out but McGowan, Locke, and Urena are 3 pitchers that could ALL suck at any given time or have a terrible year.

FishMan1997
Why? A Mike Hill special. More than anything; a move like this shows that Loria is trying to make another run in the next 1-2 years before selling. I think he's really getting out of it after the All Star break
CYmarlins
@FishMan1997 They might break camp with 13 pitchers but I don't see that lasting very long. Probably a week.

Maybe 1 month. ONE OF Locke, McGowan, or Urena will be AWFUL.
pollythewog
The one thing is that I wonder how big a difference Phelps in the rotation w brice in the pen would be to straily/phelps. Phelps is probably as good as straily starting

pollythewog
I still feel he would be one of first guys up should an injury occur to the starting rotation. which creates the problem of having to stretch him out mid season which is a terrible idea
