Strong push for Chapman and Jansen coming

According to Ken Rosenthal, some in the front office prefer Chapman and some prefer Jansen. Curious if that has led to the idea of signing more than one closer.

I've only seen that they're interested in signing one, not two.

It hasn't been said they won't do that though either

I just think that the Marlins need a starting pitcher or two in order to justify having Chapman. I know he's more than a closer, and takes pressure off the rotation, but with the loss of Jose the Marlins need quality starters. Volquez isn't going to cut it.

Fair enough but what FA pitchers would fit that? Seems like a thin market and they don't want to deal any of the core pieces to get a SP via trade so it is either get some closers or do nothing.

I would just deal Ozuna and stand pat. Sell Ramos at the deadline.

I don't think there is anything they could realistically do to be a competitor.

Well, fortunately, the front office seems to be thinking differently.

Well, unfortunately, the team will be worse off.

According to logic/reason.

How does doing nothing except trading Ozuna make any sense? If that's the plan, they might as well have another fire sale. What would they be waiting for? The great farm system?

They should try their best while Stanton is still cheap and in his prime.
