pollythewog 12
his value has literally been at it's highest this offseason following the AFL performance. wut he sucked at the AFL and it was 15 innings
poptart 0
Is it just me or does this feel a hell of a lot worse than last two firesales? yup. there is no light at the end of this tunnel. 16.5 WAR traded and the farm system got upgraded from the 30th best in baseball to... i dunno? the 29th? THRILLHO 57
Is it just me or does this feel a hell of a lot worse than last two firesales? At least before those we won the damn WS the year before. Maybe it is age setting in but I'm struggling to remember a 2004 firesale.
SongInTheAir 424
Poor Yelich, he's going to have to deal with playing on a 40-win team next year.

At least before those we won the damn WS the year before. This team was as Stanton said a few starters away from serious playoff contention. Yeah the system was thin but this whole process was totally unnecessary if Jeter was smart about dealings, shed Prado (Anderson), Straily, and a few other costly contracts, made some educated SP acquisitions, and only raised payroll a few mil, if that. Instead this organization has been set back at least five years. Loria was a terrible owner. Between everything he’s done since taking over Jeter has started out as a worse one. And we even still have the HR sculpture. Preach to the choir brother.

This is more than likely the last year the Nationals have a huge strangle hold on the division as well.

fish20 0
wut he sucked at the AFL and it was 15 innings lol, he definitely didnt suck, and prospect potential most of the time is different from stats in a small sample size.
Erick 246
This move is so bizarre. I'm more excited about Guzman. The Marlins should have finally gotten their yuge haul by trading Ozuna. What a letdown. Fully agree with you on this one.
Erick 246
wut he sucked at the AFL and it was 15 innings I wasn't there, but he impressed scouts in the AFL for some reason.
MRMarlin93 0
@Quinton McCracken I guess the moves made in-between the 2005 and 2006 season?
pollythewog 12
I wasn't there, but he impressed scouts in the AFL for some reason. he impressed cause of his fastball which was hitting 100+ and is indeed very good
Hammerhead 0
he impressed cause of his fastball which was hitting 100+ Which won’t be the case if he sticks as a starter which I’m sure we will doing.
THRILLHO 57
Regardless of where you sit on Alcantara's prospect potential the fact that we're debating his AFL showing is not a good sign.
pollythewog 12
Which won’t be the case if he sticks as a starter which I’m sure we will doing. exactly...he was hitting that in 2ip type work
pollythewog 12
before alcantara's fall stars game which is the one where scouts were "impressed" his line was: In four regular-season starts, he's posted a 5.73 ERA, allowed 10 hits, issued eight walks and struck out 10 in 11 innings. Lol
Erick 246
How have the other 3 prospects not been reported yet?
SongInTheAir 424
Three other prospects (so no Piscotty or Grichuk). Deal won't be announced until tomorrow, meaning the Marlins twitter will announce it in February.
CYmarlins 25
How have the other 3 prospects not been reported yet? Probably still discussing them.

knglover 0
How have the other 3 prospects not been reported yet? I am guessing they are international players and the team is trying to contact them before the names are released.

Lol so the 15 innings in the AFL is stupid to base an opinion on, but you are gonna judge him on his first 8.1 innings as a 22 year old in the majors?
SongInTheAir 424
Probably still discussing them. Nah, the deal is done. It's just a matter of the right (or wrong, I guess) person catching wind of the names.
Rydawg 99
What are the chances the Cardinals get a better return for Piscotty than we got for Ozuna?

He was RP in mlb and had the same problems he always had, shitty command, no breaking pitches
