Admin
I still think he'll be traded when the "right offer" comes along.
fauowls44
Not everyone of value has to be traded this off season. Given the amount of 2nd baseman on the market, waiting until the deadline isn't a terrible idea.
SilverBullet
Yeah that was nothing definitive. That absolutely sounded like "yes, he'll be on the team... until we trade him." I'd actually be pretty alarmed if they don't trade him.
CYmarlins
At the very least I would expcet a deadline deal, maybe near the end of Spring Training when injuries occur.
SilverBullet
Haven't heard a peep from Castro, can't imagine he would be happy to go from the Yankees to the Marlins unless he really likes Miami. Or he's not a social media type of player and might just keep his mouth shut either way.
Retro_Marlins25
Good, now the Stanton trade isn't a complete disaster.

SilverBullet
Good, now the Stanton trade isn't a complete disaster. Well someone doesn't understand how a rebuild works.
Admin
The Marlins are close to meeting their payroll goal. I could see them avoid trading additional major talent to prevent further backlash. Which would be idiotic. Yeah nobody is going to come to games cause Castro is on the team. SilverBullet
Yeah nobody is going to come to games cause Castro is on the team. There's a few people on here who seem to be relying on Castro as their make or break reason to follow the team in 2018.
bmg42
The worst part of the Stanton deal is that at this point they're going to piss people off either way. If Castro leaves, some people will say "See, they're trying to lose 110 next year." If he stays, others will say about what El Penguino said. You can't please everyone, but so far Jeter is pleasing nobody.
LordMagnus
Who cares if people threaten to not attend games? The attendance is going to be poor no matter what the front office does.
The_Punisher
what did I tell you guys? If he is traded it'll be during the deadline.
bmg42
Correct. And for what its worth, it probably would have been poor even if they retained every player AND added a SP. You can't know that. A lot of people hated Loria/Samson enough that they swore off the Marilns. Jeter could have come in and taken steps to bring people to the park. He could have said, "Things are going to be different now. We're not in it for the money - we want to win as soon as possible." And they could have tried to piece together a pitching staff to go with the hitters they had. There are enough baseball fans here to fill the stadium. The team has chosen a different path, and the park will be a ghost town most nights for a few years if not longer.

SilverBullet
Attach Castro to Yelich and or Realmuto or to someone else? I would have thought Castro had a decent enough amount of interest on his own.

I would have thought Castro had a decent enough amount of interest on his own. To someone else that sounds like but I wonder who. Maybe trying to dump a Ziegler or Tazawa? Like you, I thought Castro has value, can't see him as the throw-in even though Heyman wrote it that way almost.
SilverBullet
Seems odd but I'd definitely rather Castro be the one attached to Ziegler or Tazawa than attaching either of those to Yelich or Realmuto.

Rydawg
Attach Castro to Yelich and or Realmuto or to someone else? I would have thought Castro had a decent enough amount of interest on his own. Why would they attach those two to anyone. We are already at or near budget and the contracts expire at the end of the season. They will only diminish whatever returns we get and god knows they don't get the best returns to begin with. Trade them alone if you can but don't jeopardize the returns we get.

Wait I thought I was the one who believed the rebuild could be done right and everyone else thought Mike Hill was the biggest reason it could he screwed up. When did we switch places? I'm surprised any of you would be surprised if Tazawa or Ziegler were attatched to Yelich or JT.

There's really no excuse to attach those contracts now. There's a limit to Hill's incompetence. I hope. LOL
TaiwanMarlins
No kidding. If they were to try and dump a bad contract by throwing away Yelich or Realmuto, I would go wild Taiwanmarlin style. Luckily I can't see them doing that. I just don't think I had the wildest reactions to this firesale over here,I believe many people were very upset about this but just didn't show it…
Entendu
If they don't trade Castro, Yelich, and Realmuto, I would grade this off-season a C- or D. And if they do, you'll grade it an F. We forget that Mike Hill is still employed. Can he continue his streak and fail to get a top 100 prospect for JT and Yelich?
