MLB the Show 18

Recommended Posts

the fact that this game is still PS4 only really pisses me off as someone who likes mlb games and who foolishly got an xbox one instead of a PS4.  especially as a sport that has trouble attracting young people i have no idea why they are the only professional sport without a video game.

Because Sony is the one who got the license and they won't produce a high selling game for the competition. You're right about the problem but blame MLB for allowing Sony to get the rights to this. Actually I don't even think the rights are exclusively theirs anymore. If I'm not mistaken any company can now allowed to produce an MLB game for XBox but none have done so yet. I think someone will pick up the project eventually because it'll make money but the problem is that for many years it will be way behind The Show in quality. It'll always be playing catch up.

RBI Baseball was improved this year wasn't it? I remember articles about it.

Yes but the gap between the two games is still large in many many aspects. I guess which you prefer depends on what type of game you wanna play. There's room for both.

My guy is mashing for the Jumbo Shrimps and still hasn't gotten called up. In fact, I think I'm being benched because I tried to steal second after they told me not to steal anymore (despite the manager telling me in game to steal). It's probably cuz I'm Hispanic.

Go to the Roster Vault and download OSFM Roster V1.5 from username Ridindwnkingsly (or something like that)... This will give you a full 90 man Marlins roster including many of the minor leaguers like Monte Harrison. Zero created players, all 90 players are real guys in our organization.

Every so often check the vault again for more updated versions of the roster but these are great.

Almost can't see how anyone can play the Marlins in this game (beyond random exhibition games) without using these rosters. The whole point of the Marlins now is building for the future so it's nice to have deep minor league rosters in The Show as well.

I just wish the rosters would update inside franchise mode when you get a new roster update, RBI baseball added that this year.

I use one by some guy named Monkeyman or something. I think it's pretty good.

If it says OSFM then it's probably good but is a copy of the original with some changes. Ridindwnkingsly is the guy who makes the original so I always know his are top notch for sure.

If importing an entire roster into an existing franchise is a pain to do (and it totally seems like it would be) they should at least allow importing individual players into the existing franchise free agent pool because I think the problems come when new individual players debut in reality.

Say you started an Angels franchise last year and are a few seasons in and want to continue your franchise but you don't have Ohtani since he obviously debuted this year. You should be allowed to import him into the free agent pool of your franchise and then sign him onto your team, or any team, in your franchise. This would be a huge help in allowing people to continue their existing franchises while still keeping it fresh with updates from real life and still not ruining the entire thing.

All I play is Franchise mode so I can download this guys roster tweak and use it on a New Franchise mode? I stopped playing a couple days before Opening Day but I been waiting for the proper roster updates that I can use.

Yep this is the one. The only inaccuracy you would correct, if you cared, is add Dustin McGowan from free agency and replace him over Ellington and you're pretty much set.

Perfect! I'll download that update today. I was getting tired of getting all the updates last year.

OSFM will release further versions throughout the year when bigger transactions happen like around the trade deadline but for now this is definitely your best bet.

I know this thread is really old, but I just saw it.

I too am an XBox One person, and I had several variations of MLB 2K_ back when they made those for the 360.  I think 2K13 was the last iteration of it.

I'd buy another if they'd make one (or something like it).
