December 12, 20195 yr I will not say no if we could add decent players, but it's not a favorable time to pull the trigger. (need some adjustment of whole rotation.) After the end of 2020, we will get a better chance to deal with it, I think.
December 12, 20195 yr Happy for the rotation guys. Most banks don't give a whole lot of interest on deposits, but I guess they deserve it for some reason. But, what does this have to do with baseball.
December 12, 20195 yr Author But, what does this have to do with baseball. It is the off-season, what do you want from me?
December 12, 20195 yr No more SP moves after shedding Gallen and Richards. Need to hold on all of them until at minimum the deadline. Â Stay the course. Add a longterm right handed bat (Castellenos, Ozuna, maybe Puig), or absorb bad contracts for prospects (Wil Myers), or do something unexpectedly awesome (trade for Rizzo and extend him). Â Past that, 1 year cheap free agents and get to the trade deadline.

December 12, 20195 yr Add a longterm right handed bat What are your thoughts on their sudden interest in a lefty hitting outfielder?
December 12, 20195 yr What are your thoughts on their sudden interest in a lefty hitting outfielder? I think they know the Marlins GM in the Marlinsbaseball.com and intending to do something on the contrary …
December 12, 20195 yr Are you including Urena in this? Yes. I don't want Yamamoto and Hernandez in the rotation. If they trade Urena and sign a 1 year guy to flip at the deadline, sure. Aug 1st I want a 6 man rotation - Sandy, Pablo, Caleb, Sixto, Neidert, Cabrera/Guzman
December 12, 20195 yr What are your thoughts on their sudden interest in a lefty hitting outfielder? They do need one theoretically until Lewin/Sanchez are up, but they added some redundancy with Aguilar so I'm not sure how it works. If they sign a corner lefty (Calhoun), two of Cooper, Aguilar, and Ramirez are on the bench and why? You need to play those guys? A 1 year lefty CF makes a lot of sense though. Maybe they think Villar (or dare I say Anderson) can play CF which fixes the whole "Calhoun/corner player redundancy" problem.

I wouldn’t hesitate to trade Urena if we get a decent offer. Who cares what our rotation looks like for the first few months of a non-contending year? If you get an offer that you like for Urena, you take it and figure out the rotation from there.
December 12, 20195 yr  OMG if could actually get something worthwhile for Hernandez

It's important to protect young arms and not expose them if you can. Also, you get the same or more for Urena in June/July if he proves health. He was at his worst last year.

I agree with this. Especially since the closest 2 guys in the Marlins pipeline (Sixto and Neidert) have each had injury concerns the last couple years. However, if someone is willing to give a worthwhile piece for Hernandez, I say pull the trigger.

He was at his worst last year.  I guess our difference here is how we view Urena. I view him as a completely replaceable AAAA starter, with limited upside even in a move to the pen. I’m not saying to trade him just to trade him, but I’d be all over the first offer that has decent value.

If he does well, then you market his struggles last year as injury related and try to sell him on his 2018/2020 stats.

Again, my original statement was if they receive an offer with any real value, they should snag it and move on. I’m not saying dump him if the offer has nothing of real substance.
December 13, 20195 yr I want to know what the drawing of "tons of interest" looks like. Is it a truck with a ton of "interest" in the bed?
