Puig rejected Miami's advances, in part because he wanted a bigger contract -- especially if it meant playing in front of a Cuban-heavy audience, who, he felt, might have unrealistic expectations for him. Michael
Still time for him to sign now if he's not getting a better offer. ?♂️ He should realize signing with us gives him a guaranteed shot at being on a contender if he does well.
hovertical
https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/yasiel-puig-confirms-the-marlins-and-others-made-him-offers-but-doesnt-think-there-will-be-a-2020-season/ so he wants to be paid MORE to play for Miami. The exact opposite of the whole "hey, he might take less to play here because of ....." Also, already admitting that basically he's not going to try and take an opportunity to rise to the occasion to play in front of a people who would embrace him (and demand more money as a result) tells you everything you need to know about him as an individual.
Admin
I'm glad he didn't sign here.
SilverBullet
so he wants to be paid MORE to play for Miami. The exact opposite of the whole "hey, he might take less to play here because of ....." Yea this. The opposite of a hometown discount, what an idiot. "I would love to play in Miami so much that I would need even more money to play there?" Fuck off.

Michael
Not only that, him getting a bigger contract would cause people to have HIGHER expectations of him. And then once he's traded at the deadline, makes the casuals say "wow same old Marlins."
legacyofCangelosi
If it’s taken this long for anyone to sign him i can’t imagine him getting that much money anyway.
