Samson: Loria agreed to terms with John Buck on his own

Recommended Posts

Asked for a specific example of Jeffrey Loria meddling with baseball operations decisions, David Samson says Loria agreed to terms with John Buck's agents before the 2011 season based on what the agents said Buck was worth and without consulting with baseball operations. Samson, Beinfest, and Hill didn't wanna sign Buck but were told to do so and when they went forward they wanted only a one or two year deal but Loria had already told the agents they could have 3 years $18 million. Samson says Loria also signed Dustin McGowan to a major league deal one day when the 25 man roster was already full.

I guess you could say that Loria didn't really... pass the buck.

You know, I haven't decided if we had a downvote button here if the upvotes or downvotes would win haha....

Apparently they're having David Samson back on on Dec. 5th, when he'll share many more times where Loria interfered with personnel moves.

Samson has been a must listen to me, he's honest and genuine- which is refreshing. He was great back in the day, and he's not afraid to admit he screwed up here or there.

However, he's also open.

People are just clinging to the stadium bullshit too much. Its obvious they all worked for Loria. They all wanted to keep their jobs. There's only so many GM and Pres jobs in MLB.
