7/10 Simulated Game Recap

Recommended Posts

The Miami Marlins played against themselves once again on Friday and the final score was 4-2 in seven innings.

Pablo Lopez and Jose Urena were the starters for Team White  and Team Blue respectively in this one. Lopez went five innings, while Urena lasted four. Both pitchers were on similar pitch counts to Thursday's starters, and could see a similar workload in their next outing as well. The Marlins will need to be cautious with their staff, even with the season only two weeks away.

Lewin Diaz followed up on his Thursday home run, with a frozen rope to left field in this one. Diaz continues to impress, but remains unlikely to be on Miami's Opening Day roster. Diaz is seen as a big part of Miami's future and there is no immediate need for him in the lineup. With a designated hitter in play for 2020, Diaz could find himself in the big leagues before the short season comes to an end however.

Garrett Cooper and Sean Rodriguez also had solid hits in this game. Cooper and Rodriguez both collected their hits off Stephen Tarpley, while playing for Team Blue.

After posting two home runs in Thursday's simulated game, no balls left the park in Friday's action.

Miami is expected to play another intrasquad simulated game on Saturday at Marlins Park.
