7/22 Marlins at Braves Recap

The Marlins wrapped up their exhibition schedule with a 6-2 win over the Braves on Wednesday afternoon in Atlanta.

After blowing a seven run lead on Tuesday, Miami rebounded well in this win and erased the memories of that collapse. The offense clicked early and set the tone for a successful afternoon.

Jorge Alfaro brought home Miami's first run of the game with a seeing-eye single in the second inning. Alfaro's hit brought home Brian Anderson, who had doubled to begin the inning.

The Marlins added another run in the third inning when Harold Ramirez doubled home Corey Dickerson. Prior to that RBI double, Dickerson had a long AB which resulted in a walk. The walk was Dickerson's second of the game, as he continues to show a good eye at the plate.

Pablo Lopez made the start for the Marlins and went three innings. Lopez struck out three, walked one and allowed one run on one hit. The right-hander looked sharp in his final appearance, before the regular season gets underway. Lopez will be the fourth man in Miami's rotation and will take on the Baltimore Orioles.

Ramirez's big day continued when he slugged a two-run home run in the fifth inning to extend Miami's lead to three runs. The blast was the fifth for the Marlins in two games in Atlanta.

Monte Harrison doubled in the top of the ninth and Garrett Cooper cashed in the run with a single to extend Miami's lead to three. Harrison is ticketed for Jupiter to begin the year, but he could find himself in Miami before too long. Eddy Alvarez padded Miami's run total with a single of his own later in the ninth.

Elieser Hernandez, Jordan Holloway, Sterling Sharp and Ryne Stanek combined for six innings of solid relief.

The season will begin on Friday in Philadelphia against the Phillies at 7:05 p.m.
