FishFan95
The Cardinals finished with fewer wins than both the Marlins and Reds and yet get the 5th seed while the Marlins and Reds get the 6th and 7th seeds respectively. Do you guys think the Cardinals should have to play the makeup games. They could call the 2nd off if the Cardinals won the first 1 since they would win on tiebreakers. FishFan95
I also want to point out how annoying it is that most of the fans responding to Bauer just assume the Reds would be the 5th seed if the Cardinals lost both games. The Marlins hold the tiebreaker over the Reds.
rmc523
So, considering the Cardinals are 30-28 now, and the Reds are 31-29, I agree it doesn't make sense that they're not playing at least one more game, as 2nd place in the division is still up for grabs technically. If STL lost both games, they'd finish below the Reds at 30-30, and would become the WC team and they should then face the Braves (with the Reds becoming 2nd in the division and would then face the Padres). If STL won the 1st and holds the tiebreaker, yeah, not much point in playing the last game. Seeding ranks 2nd in the division above the WC teams. We would face the Padres, actually. :x
SilverBullet
He's not always wrong but Trevor Bauer talks too much. There's no need to be so outspoken all the damn time. More often than not, even if you're right, it'll get you in more trouble than actually do any good so why bother? That crap rubs people the wrong way and he's probably a headache for whatever team he's on.
rmc523
20 minutes ago, Michael said: We would face the Padres, actually. :x You're right - looked into the numbers, very interesting...... We have the same record as CIN at 31-29. 1st tiebreaker is head to head record, which didn't happen this year. 2nd tiebreaker is inter-division record, and both us and CIN were 21-19. 3rd tiebreaker is last 20 in the division, where both the Marlins and Reds were 12-8 4th tiebreaker adds a division game to that tally until the tie is broken - had to go back 3 more games to break the tie, as both teams went L - W (going backwards) in games 21 and 21, and the Marlins won that 23rd/3rd tiebreaker game.
