Rebuilding and why Mr. Jeter is a Genius

Recommended Posts

Definition of Rebuilding:

to repair, especially to dismantle and reassemble with new parts

The key that us fans need to keep in mind is the last part (to dismantle and reassemble with new parts).

Mr. Jeter needs to obtain the parts necessary to win a championship while completely dismantling the previous roster’s structure. This is what Loria was never able to successfully implement, the team would always be half rebuilt. Rebuilding is far from easy and needs to be done using multiple avenues.

The Draft: We should obtain the #1 Pick in both the 2020 and 2021 drafts along with having the #4 Overall Pick in the draft this June. This gives us a strong core that will be club controlled for 6 years.

International Scouting: Mr. Jeter has already been very aggressive in obtaining International Bonus Pool Money. This has allowed us to sign the Mesa’s and will allow the organization to obtain more young talent in the future that will also be club controlled for 6 years.

Free Agency: This is actually a great time to rebuild because we are waiting out some BAD contracts from the Loria years. By the time we finish the 2020 Season we will have gotten both Chen and Starlin Castro off the books (Combined $33 Million or 45% of current payroll) while also most likely obtaining two #1 Overall Picks.

TV Contract: Right now is a bad time to spend and attempt to contend for a title because we are at the end of a HORRIBLE TV Deal that pays only about $20 Million per year. At the end of the negotiation our 2020 TV rights should be worth approximately $70-80 Million. The reason why ratings don’t matter in this case is because 1. The team is bad, for now. 2. The winner of the TV rights gets to broadcast games across the state of Florida which is in a population boom and is now the 3rd Largest State in the U.S. 3. Live Sports is the only programming that is DVR proof. Just think, an extra $50-60 Million per year could sign Bryce Harper plus another free agent.

Why Mr. Jeter is a Genius (By The End of the 2020 Season)

Two #1 Overall Picks and a #4 Overall Pick plus Compensatory Picks

International Pool Money that will allow the club to Sign Impact Players

A payroll of only $40 Million that will allow the flexibility to sign multiple free agents since the team will also have Revenue Sharing Money that will have been saved.

Let ESPN, MLB Network, and other media outlets laugh at the Marlins while they can.

The 2022-2030 seasons will be a different story.

Thanks for the lesson. Mr. Jeter is far from a genius. He must have skipped geography at Kalamazoo high school. Florida may be the third largest state (population-wise), but it  is also at the southern end of a sub-tropical peninsula. Figure out what that means for future attendance and since it is your forte, TV ratings.

Loria would've been fine had he not driven ridiculous trades of what have turned out to be key assets for washed up "names" - including a whole host of pitching that we wound up not having.

Ratings do matter because it'll drive the value of the deal.  I don't feel like explaining beyond that.

What does this mean? Seriously, no clue what the location of Florida on the globe has to do with attendance and TV ratings.

He doesn't know anything, he just thinks he's brilliant and we all need to figure things out. That and he thinks Jeter is an idiot because he didn't attend college. Decent chance Jeter is actually smarter than this guy anyway.

HAHAHA, I've just noticed most italians refer to team owners as Mr. So and So... never have seen that too often in the US.

Awesome so Jeter is a genius when the Marlins have the #1 overall pick two years in a row as predicted?!? Will there be anyone left watching the Marlins at the end of that run of bad baseball? I check in on games now through my phone, but I can't tell you the last time I actually made time to watch a game, I really don't look forward to more of the Jeter plan of bad baseball
