TV Deal: The Stalemate Continues (Journalists Have No Timetable on Signing)

My expectations are pretty low for this deal. I hope I’m way off and they signed something crazy like a 20 year deal for $75M-$80M per season, but I wouldn’t doubt it’s 1-2 years at $40-$50...T.V. In general is in a very weird place.

Who needs to give in ?

The point is, there was a stalemate for a long time. The Marlins wanted a certain value to the deal and obviously the TV people didn't think they were worth it. If this wasn't true, there wouldn't have been such a long stalemate. Therefore one side had to give in. Did the TV people give in to what the Marlins wanted or did the Marlins have to settle for what the TV guys wanted to give them.

Judging by the timing of the deal I would have to assume the Marlins had more pressure to give in as they need their fans to have the games on TV more than Bally's needs to have the Marlins on their network.

Good news: There will be TV for at least 1 Marlins spring game, next Monday against Cards at 1 p.m. on Fox Sports Florida (featuring Marlins & Cardinals announcers). All or nearly all regular season games will continue to be televised in Marlins new TV deal, to be finalized soon.

It also means we can expect some heavy gambling tie-ins. Maybe Craig will give us the lines and prop bets during the pregame show.

Seems like they're going to have a hard time not reinstating Pete Rose if they do that.

They've promoted DraftKings in ballparks so they're already passed that point. Lol
