Marte extension?

Yanks too and we know how this front office loves to talk deals with Yanks.

Ugh, Yanks don’t have hitting though. At least the Cubs have hitting. Almost every single one of them are like a season away but they’re loaded with hitters all over.

Dude is in freakish shape.

This. Maybe I'm just looking to justify my desire to keep him. But I think this matters.

I'd hate to be a Debbie downer here, but something doesn't add up.  ... but as much as I like Marte, my spider senses are telling me to sell to the highest bidder.  It's actually the smart play anyway considering his age.

Hopefully I'm wrong, and we extend him, and he ages like a fine wine, and he leads us to a World Series.  Thing is, I stopped believing in fairy tales a long time ago.

Good post. And I appreciate the willingness to go against the grain.

Trade him at the deadline and then sign him in the offseason?

I'd be overjoyed if they did this. It seems tough to pull off, though. Even Seinfeld couldn't do it.

If we don’t sign Marte, who is the alternative in CF next season? Has anyone considered that?

Edit: We have considered it. Just wondering if Kim Ng feels the same way…

I think they maybe did okay with Sanchez for nick Anderson. Stanek was terrible tho

As of right now, they win that deal hands down. Sanchez stunk last year in his brief call up and hasn't had a chance to do much of anything yet in the bigs this season. Not saying anything that's a completely fair assessment but based on current results in the bigs it's been lopsided in the their favor. Hoping something clicks for Jesus and he takes off though. Anderson would sure be a nice arm to have since he can actually strike dudes out and not rely solely on contact though.

And Anderson was a big reason in the Rays reaching the World Series last year.

- This team can’t hit its way out of a paper bag

- Marte has been the best hitter, bar none, since the day he came to the Marlins

- They have no large salary commitments

- He said he wants to stay here

If they don’t re-sign him, or at least make one hell of an effort, that’d be pathetic.
