Marlins open a 3 game home series vs the Braves

Pitching matchup:

Marlins: Sandy Alcántara (3.30 ERA)

Rockies: Charlie Morton (4.21 ERA)

Stats to note:

While the Marlins banged Morton up for 5 runs in Atlanta in April, he has had a decent year relying heavily on his curveball. It has held opposing batters to a .154 BA and .187 SLG. Marlins will have to lay off this pitch which he throws in the zone only 40% of the time relying mostly on getting batters to chase. It was particularly effective in that April start against the Fish. He had a called strike + whiff percentage of 52% on that pitch.

The Marlins are starting to really pound the ball lately. In the last 7 games, the Marlins have the 3rd best OPS (.810), ISO (.186), and wRC+ (126) in the NL in that stretch. It is largely due to their 2nd best line drive rate (25.3%) in the NL in those games. Notably as well, Morton gives up an above average line drive rate which was how the Marlins got to him in the prior start.
