Hey anyone notice that more than once in the last few days Mike Hill has referred to Brinson as a prospect, dropping his name in the same sentences with Chisholm Diaz Bleday and Harrison?

Found that interesting. It's like the Marlins have put him back in the system and are treating him like someone who's development hasn't finished yet.

Brinson never developed as a MLB caliber player so technically he's still a prospect

I've not been a Hill fan in the past, but things have changed.

Hill very well could've previously been directed to acquire a particular player type by Loria.  Not to mention, Loria's tight purse strings may have also meant they weren't able to get the talent he truly wanted, so was forced to get other types of players.

Loria knows about as much of talent evaluation  as Jeter does about Art appraisal, he would not tell Hill who to draft and who to trade for, he may have gotten involved in Free agencies signings to a certain degree but Hill  was fielding his own teams and the minors where filled with his talent selections. It wasn't all bad but mostly it  was all boring  and mediocre

Yes, he knows very little. But he still did it, hence the problem.

I grant you the option of signability was always a constraint under Loria but the preference in signing

High School kids over players with much higher floors  was all Hill, at times it worked most times it didn't . That was not Loria

No, that was also Loria more than likely. Look how different this draft was! Before this, signing younger more easy to sign players was basically what happened year after year because they would be cheaper. This year? Signed a bunch of players over slot, some in cases to pry them from their college commits.

As @SonOfJack and others have said, give Hill equal credit on both good and bad, or give him no credit for either. The latter is probably a fair option too, as it's possible Hill has done nothing for either group and is just a face for the media. But as it stands, if you blame him for bad, then praise him for good.
