SilverBullet
If I'm reading this right... Sixto will still be a rookie of the year candidate in 2022 right? He got ROY votes in 2020 so to be still eligible two seasons later would be a rarity. What a crazy thing that would be if he won ROY in 2022. https://www.mlb.com/news/players-to-receive-rookie-of-the-year-votes-in-2-years
Admin
Yes, he remains eligible in 2022. Would be wild!
fish53
Just curious to see how he responds to his off year and especially his dedication to his conditioning.

SilverBullet
They might have known about his issues but with his talent he may have still been the best possible return and still worth the gamble if they felt they can get his head on right. He's still not a lost cause.

It's probably not the scouts but I'm sure I've heard that front offices try and do research on character and personality and things like that even if it's just informally asking colleagues what they've heard. Das Texan
It was always the knock on Sixto that he didnt have the drive to be great. Marlins took that risk hoping he would grow up and that his talent would win out. It hasnt. Yet. Time is probably starting to run out for him in some ways, but still immense talent. He has basically zero or maybe even negative trade value at this point. They have to hope he gets serious and figures it out, but they dont think he will and I dont blame them. Really its too bad.
