Man that first season for Paddack made that Fernando Rodney trade a complete shit show but it turns out it was all just a pointless swap of players who weren’t going to make an impact regardless. The trade is/was still stupid but at least it’s not in the trading Castillo twice for AAAA trash realm of stupidity.

Paddack is still young.  He can still turn it around. It was still a shit trade.  Rodney was garbage.

Talent-wise definitely, but he has a partial UCL year that he hasn’t chosen surgery for and we all know how that ends. He’ll do “rehab” till the middle of the season at which point they’ll recommend TJ and he’ll be out till 2024. So yeah I don’t expect him to produce much in the timeframe in which he would have been controllable by the marlins anyway

are there ANY examples where someone who has had a partial tear has actually recovered and NOT needed TJ surgery?  I can't recall any offhand.

Masahiro Tanaka, I believe.

Yup, Tanaka pitched with one for years I believe but definitely one of those “exception not the rule” situations I would say.
