SongInTheAir Posted May 4, 2022 Share Posted May 4, 2022 (edited) So it's become increasingly clear that Donald Arthur Mattingly will be managing the Miami Marlins until the end of the 2022 season and likely for a few more seasons beyond that. He is not getting fired, he is not on the hot seat, this front office somehow thinks he's doing a great job. Is it because they, too, are incompetent and think his moves are good? Is it because they are even less competent than Don and they are the ones sending down things like, "bench your best player" and "bring in your worst reliever because you're losing by one run" and Don is just a yes man that does what they say? Either way, asking for Don Mattingly to be fired has not worked. Let's use this thread not for discussion (take that to the other thread) but instead just as a list of "evidence" for why Don Mattingly should not be managing a Major League Baseball team. He removes him from the leadoff spot, where his speed can cause real issues for opposing teams, and instead bats him 6th, a part of the lineup where speed is almost irrelevant. 2. Hasn’t cost us much yet, but it probably will eventually. 4. The same thing he’s doing with Jazz, he does with Jesus Sanchez. 5. His shifts mostly work…for the other team.
