Why would they have someone different on the cover of the same game?

Collector's Editions typically have a different cover athlete, I believe.

Like NBA 2K recently had a Kobe cover for their Legends edition.

More opportunity to make more money.

If you like Jazz, get the regular version.

If you like Jeter... 😒... then get the Collector's edition.

While the money thing is true a die hard MLB The Show player would be screwed here, if they wanted Jazz, because it's not just about the cover athlete. The collectors edition has more stuff in it for the gamers and so that's the one many people will buy for the content as opposed to for the cover star.

Damn Jazz is "only" on the standard edition so Jeter gets both the Deluxe and Collectors editions so most big time Show players actually wont get the Jazz edition. Then again, aren't most people getting these things digitally anyways? The cover is superficial for many people.

Guess I'm going standard, then!

Yes, but you would still see the icon (matching the cover) on your console's home screen.

Pre-orders now available.

Anyone remember when a pre order was just like a small amount of money like five bucks to reserve your copy and then you paid the rest when the game arrived? Now a pre order is just paying the full price ahead of time.

This is why I didn't end up pre-ordering when I looked it up the other day. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Yea pre-ordering meant more when you had to go to a store that was only getting a limited number of copies so you were basically reserving your copy to avoid not getting a copy on release day. Now you're just pre-paying something that isn't likely to sell out. I guess physical copies might still be limited but not like in the past and especially considering how many people just buy digital.

These are the wild things that young kids now don't understand lol.

I saw some guy with Game Pass say he paid for it last year cause he didn't want to wait 4 days. Imagine paying 70 bucks for 4 extra days.

Yeah, the digital version (or really a hard copy) is going to be the same regardless of getting it today or next week, IMO.

Worse - 85 or 100 for 4 extra days. Standard doesn't allow for the early access.

Paying the same amount ahead of time to play early is ok. But paying more than the regular price is stupid.

It is free on Game Pass, so instead of paying $0, he paid the full price just to play 4 days early and he said that's why.
