Would you trade Eury?

Question that was asked on Twitter…would you trade Eury for a hitting prospect like Jordan Walker?

My answer to this would be yes.

I feel like the Cardinals would consider it too.

I would for Carrol, Henderson, de la Cruz, and Holiday off the top of my head. Maybe Walker and Alvarez too. Also we really screwed up not drafting Brooks Lee.

We really won't know this for sure for a couple years at a minimum. I'll put a lityle more trust the bat that was successful in the SEC and Pac-12.

Walker is a decent start for Eury m8 but cards need add more

I don’t want anymore “prospects”. Give me players like Arraez and Reynolds who have come up to the bigs and proven they can do it.

I'd only trade Eury for Jose Salas and Bryson Cheerios but I don't see how the Twins would ever agree to that deal.

Fair point and I don't necessarily disagree with you, but two things here:

1) Walker is not just a typical prospect, since he is basically big league ready already. Unproven, but not like he'll be in the minors for a year or two first.

2) Eury is also unproven so it'd be a swap of unproven players

I still am not sure I'd do this deal anyway. I think Walker is an exciting player who will do well, but Eury could be an ace and those remain the hardest to acquire.

Thing is it’s much more rare to see a good pitching prospect who dominates in AA/AAA come up and not be any good in the bigs. Where as lately I feel so many highly-touted hitting prospects come up and never put it together. Look at Brinson, Kelenic, Adell, and pretty much all the top 100 guys the marlins had that became less than nothing. No thanks!

Honestly the thing with Eury is the thought that we could be a year or two away from having "2 Sandys" so to speak. I know every prospect is unproven until they prove it but if there's ever a prospect to keep it's this guy. You don't throw away the chance of having two legitimate aces.

I don't want another "big" hitting prospect.  We've been burned too many times with those (Cabrera and Yelich trades are the primary offenders).  Only way it's happening for me is for a proven MLB bat.

Heck, I'd offer him to the Brewers for this Yelich kid if they ate some of the money. Maybe even to the Yankees for Stanton, again if they ate money.

I wonder what those guys could do if they ever played in Miami.

You can still argue the point that we would have been there much sooner had they not absolutely torched the entire roster upon taking over..and...you know....spent money on guys like Realmuto and Marte versus those that shall not be named.  Outside of the Ozuna trade, moving those guys did absolutely zilch to help build any title winning team and only prolonged our misery so yeah, fair enough to still bitch them out for it.
