October 16, 20232 yr Imagine getting rid of your GM the year she finally gets your poverty franchise to the postseason. Should have given her whatever she wanted and then some. I don't care who the next GM is, could be the greatest GM ever, there will be an adjustment period for them and that could delay us when we were finally moving forward. This sucks.
October 16, 20232 yr This can't be about the money as much as it is about the years. Bruce pays up when he wants to. He didn't want to commit to more than one year and Kim knew she earned herself more than that and yes the money comes with that but this feels like it's about time commitment more than money. Kim didn't deserve to be a lame duck GM in 2024.

Did the same thing with Hill if we're going to count 2020. Two postseason appearances in a row where we won't have the same GM that got us there the next year.

October 16, 20232 yr she really only deserved a one year deal at this point based on her body of work and shortcomings that said, we also knew (and i stated as such) that there was no way she was only going to take a one year deal as someone would offer her more Marlins will likely be fine either way in terms of who they get as GM...she hadn't proven to be one of the best GMs in all of baseball or something and still had very visible faults. Still, just from the optics angle and good will generated by this year's team you'd have thought Brucey would have offered up at least a 3 year deal....that's wild that he didnt lol Oh well

Shortcomings or not, she got them to the playoffs in the final year of her deal so she succeeded in year 3 of a 3 year plan... this means she earned herself the chance to return with more than a one year deal behind her. She was successful despite whatever shortcomings she had. She did what her job asked her to do. To say she only earned a one year deal from that is ridiculous.

And hey, while I'm defending Kim here because of how this is unfolding... yes she did have shortcomings and yes we might be better without her... but this is a really shitty spot for our organization to be in right now. More off field distractions when we should be celebrating a successful season and building on the on field product before anything else.
