#5 Juan Pierre

That’s all I got.

  1. What Marlin clocked what coach in the face & for what reason? Sometimes I wish it was Heath Bell and Ozzie Guillen, other times Josh Johnson and Joe Girardi.

  2. What Marlin was rewarded a gift (necklace) from Loria and for what accomplishment? Hanley Ramirez, Batting title, Apartamento 342!

  3. What player requested a trade after a fire sale? JT Realmutto , But I feel like Giancarlo did the same in 2012

  4. What band was used for Heath Bells entrance as a closer? Gotye - Somebody that we used to know.

  5. What Marlin celebrated winning the World Series by rapping freestyle during their parade? Wasn’t it JP and Dontrelle?

My questions usually consist of odd ball memories so flaws are to be expected. Thanks for all your love and support.

2) Hanley - .342 necklace when he won the batting title.

3) Was it Burhle?

4) Wasn’t it hells bells? Or was that Hoffman. Don’t know the band.

You know.. something always bothered me about these threads. That is when there are like 5 people who respond.. the fifth person already has the benefit of seeing 4 other people’s answers. So while it’s not really cheating it’s like an open book test instead of a quiz. Not on this one specifically but on other trivia threads sometimes the first response has all the correct answers followed by 3 other people writing the exact same answers. Somehow the first one to get correct answers should get more points. 😂 sorry don’t mean to nitpick.

What player requested a trade after a fire sale?

I think the Marlins could have a top 10 list of players who requested a trade after a fire sale.

I know that Christian Yelich straight up told the Marlins that he would prefer to play for another team after they dismantled the 2017 roster. But I mean I think there could be so many players that could have done that over the years.

That’s not true - I don’t scroll past the question before I click quote and type my response. And only after I submit, THEN I’ll look at the other replies.

Also, notice that I don’t put answers for ones I don’t know (which if I was looking at other answers, I’d fill them in too).

Maybe others are reading other answers first, but I don’t.

Fortunately I don’t have the impression that anyone has cheated so far. It’s evident that we have some really knowledgeable fans. Everyones been honest based on my detection meter.

Im sure you’re right. I had one player stick out more because I thought he had the most advantage with free agency looming. I do remember Yelich now that you mentioned it.

Firesale trade request was definitely Yelich and potentially Realmuto.

Punching a coach in the face feels like a Scott Olsen thing.

I have often tried to find an Olsen reference in my head but I can’t. He had that attitude about him.

Question #1 was an assistant coach. I do believe he was fired shortly after the incident.

Oh……was it was that hitting coach…….I think he was a former Yankee…..it was during the Loria years at the new park. I can’t think of the guy’s name.

Close enough. Who punched him?

You talking Derek Dietrich and Tino Martinez?

Pretty sure it was Tino, the coach, grabbing Dietrich by the throat. The player didn't punch anyone.

Maybe there wasn’t a punch thrown after all but what I remembered from my thoughts after hearing the news that Dietrich punched Tony (I thought) was this. 1 Dietrich is going to get cut & 2 I’m surprised Tony didn’t kill Dietrich because Tony IMO was a roider. I also felt a sense of disappointment for Dietrich that it would be the beginning of the end as he was already having ups & downs on becoming a big leaguer.

Reading up on it after your post it sounds like the details stayed in house only. So who really knows how ugly it got.

THAT”S the name!

It’s funny, i almost said Dietrich, but I was like hmm, don’t think that was right.

NGL, Dietrich had a pretty decent career. Hung around the big leagues for 8 years, consistently on the big league rosters even is he wasn’t playing.

Yeah he had some guns too.

You mentioned Josh Johnson & Joe Girardi. What’s your opinion on that?

Honestly, just felt like JJ was such a quiet and nice dude that I’m sure he wanted to kill girardi for his personality and for blowing up his arm. I don’t have any evidence or anecdote about it.

I trust your intuition.

ANSWERS

1) What Marlin clocked what coach in the face & for what reason?

Derek Dietrich/ Tino Martinez. This matter was already explained.

2) What Marlin was rewarded a gift (necklace) from Loria and for what accomplishment?

Hanley - .342 necklace when he won the batting title.

3) What player requested a trade after a fire sale?

My answer was Realmuto but I’ll accept Yelich & Stanton.

4) What band was used for Heath Bells entrance as a closer?

Like rmc523, I thought Bell’s entrance song was AC/DC HBells but that belonged to Hoffman in SD so I was wrong. Piazza31 will get credit until proven otherwise with his answer Gotye - Somebody that we used to know.

5)What Marlin celebrated winning the World Series by rapping freestyle during their parade?

JP and Dontrelle is correct. I think JP was the top dawg of the two.

Edited by K-Jazzzz

I feel like I should remember Bell’s music, I remember being in tune with those things in that era of the team, I remember a bunch of their songs but no clue why I can’t remember his. I bet its on my old ipod shuffle from back then!

Bell signed in 2011 that’s the same year Gotye - Somebody that we used to know was released.

Piazza31 is a boss.

Here’s a fun fact/piece of trivia.

Juan Pierre was mentioned in a Beyoncé and Jay-Z song called “Deja Vu” during a rap by Jay-Z.

"Déjà Vu"
(feat. Jay-Z)

Bass (Uh)
Hi-hat (Uh)
808 (Uh)
Jay (uh-huh, ready, uh-huh)
Let's go get 'em (Uh-huh)
C'mon (C'mon)

I used to run base like Juan Pierre
Now I run the bass hi-hat and the snare
I used to bag girls like Birkin Bags
Now I bag B. (Boy, you hurtin' that)
Brooklyn Bay where they birthed me at
Now be everywhere, the nerve of rap
The audacity to have me with them curtains back
Me and B., she about to sting, stand back

With Jay-Z being a big Yankees fan. I’m sure he took note of Pierre right away in that 2003 World Series.
